Any one have any knowledge on these cars? My father is looking at one tomorrow so any info on what to look for would be handy. :y
And yes I know it's WWD etc etc.... ::)

I drive one of these very occassionally at work. It takes alot of getting used to IMO. Obviously it's a small diesel but there is no guts in it for a long while until the turbo kicks in, then it's a surge of torque, then you change up then nothing again until the turbo kicks in. I think it's made worse by the fact that it's only a 1.3, whereas the 1.7 I've driven before had much better driveability. I think it would be best to keep it in high revs, but when I drive manuals I like to keep it in low revs and get a smooth comfortable drive, but i suppose it's just what we get used to and we all have different driving styles after all. Also the brakes are very sharp, too sharp if you ask me. They nearly put you through the windscreen! After driving it I got back in my Omega and nearly crashed it because I was so used to feathering the brakes! Good car though, I prefer the Combi van, you can get the one with the rear seats, and either 0, 1 or 2 windows in the side doors, plus the van area at the back so you can use it as a car, and a van, therefore using the no car lanes and beating the traffic! 8-)
Oh yeah, very small in back for leg room in Corsa, and boot tiny, but it is a Corsa!

There seems to be two versions of the 1.3 CDTI, 73PS and 90PS, this one is supposedly the 90PS.
Not sure how much difference that would make to driveability.

Single or twin needle?

The 90 bhp, which is also fitted to the Astra Van and car is a cracking engine, fantastic on fuel, and quick little thing too. I like the noise it makes as well oddly.

Pretty reliable and quite driveable, ideal little second cars

I had one as a high car in Spain a few weeks ago.
Great on motorway etc (ignoring the small car comfort factor), hard work around the tight little villages/towns.
The hill up to our villa in the hills was a particular issue - hill starts would either stall it (revs below turbo threshold) or lay 10,000 miles worth of rubber (above turbo threshold), with no middle ground.
Horrid little shitbox.
The little Pandas we normally hire are much better cars engine wise.
No idea which spec engine ours was, but the engine severely let down an otherwise reasonable runaround - though still not a patch on a 10yr old Rover 25 that I'd left at the airport, on handling, cabin space, comfort and luggauge space. Engine not fair to compare, as my Rover is petrol.

I hate oil burners.......they are designed for old men who are worried about fuel economy.....They are just fine if you drive a lorry.....bus......or taxi however. ;)
