That reminds me of something I read a while ago...
A man was cutting his hedge with a pair of shears and saw a nighbour cutting their lawn with a lawn mower... This gave him a great idea, so he got his lawn mower out of the shed, held it carefully and started cutting his hedge... After a little while his fingers got tired and the mower sliiped a little in his hands, taking his finger tips off...
At the Emergency room he had his fingers sown and bandaged up, when another man appeared with his finger tips cut off... When he was asked how he did it, he said "I saw this bloke cutting his hedge with a lawn mower and I thought what a great idea"!!!!
In fact... http://darwinawards.com/personal/personal2007-06.html the actual story...

definately 'outside the box '

;D
Chainsaw is the way to go for 'pruning/trimming' - far faster than shears or hedge trimmers :y
And if you dont fancy trimming 'that' tree/bush, what tree/bush? ;D ::) :D
I 'trimmed' three trees last year in my garden that had gotten out of control.....i occassionally trip over their stumps ;D

Do what I do.Spray whisky on it.Less work because it comes up "half cut"

Cant possibly be in the OJ, as H&S are not running round like headless chikens ;D ;D ;D

I'm actually quite intrigued as to how they are going to do the side bits with it

Now, I don't consider myself in the Darwin category, but I used to "mow" the hedge 30 years ago with the first Black & Decker lightweight steel bladed mower, stood halfway up a ladder mowing the top and nice sweeping arch's to do the sides.
as an aside, I also used to "vac" the lawn with a "Wet N Dry" vacuum after mowing it :D
My dad used to work away a lot so i had to do "chores"

We have a longish sloping drive with a high hedge on one side. One year we got a gardening company to cut it down a bit, they reversed a pick up up the drive and simply drove forward as one guy cut along the top....H&S eat your heart out....... :D :D :D

I would have thought it was safer not to have a man sitting on it? It might mean over-riding the safety features but worth it.

Our hedge gets higher every year. ::) Suppose I should cut it sometime.
Hmm. I wonder if my Dad would lend me his sit-on mower? :-? :D 8-) :-X
