That's bloody good price, not the size spanner you'd use every day on your car, but £8 reduced from £30 is good ..... none in any of my local stores though  :'(

I would hate to think what my tools have cost me over the years, full wallets of metric, AF and whitworth spanners in small and large sizes, then all the BA nut spanners etc calipers, micrometers, loads of socets and sets, full set of quality adjustables from 4" to 18", hammers, chisels, sheet metal snips all now sat in 2 3 draver chest doing nothing in the garage, then a further 3 tool boxes, plus the zillions of screwdrivers, torx and screw driver bits that get replaced every tear of so because I cant find the old ones.

Then theres all the power tools, chop saw, mitre saw, circular saw, linisher, grinder, aligator saw, sanders, biscuit cutter, drillls.

Bloody hell, I am getting a headache thinking about it, I need a lie down.....

Leave them to me in your will. please. I will put them with my plastering tools, building tools, plumbing tools, woodworking tools, gardening tools, olive farming tools. No wonder the Spanish come round here to borrow tools!!!

Got to be left to some one, it's about time I made a will and the tools are something I had given no thought at all to.

Glad I mentioned it.

Don't be put off by me living in another country. It will be easy enough for me to hire a box van (or two) to collect my booty inheritance. Car as well? Again going to an enthusiast. :y

That reads something like all mine too. On top of that, work supplies all the tools for the job too, so I now have another couple of tool boxes & a double cupboard full of the things  :-?  :-?  :-?

these sound just like the Metrinch spanners i have, designed to grip on the flats & not on the points, handy with a rounded nut but tend to be awkward to use in a limited area due to the freeplay they tend to have due to locating the nut flats (if thats make sense). ;)

Mark. I may be able to help you on that one, i think i have some old Whits spanners, would you also like a King Dick Whit & AF 1/2" socket set. It's complete, but the old ratchets a bit roppy?
IIRC, it has around 35-40 pieces & in its original box.

Thats very kind Pete, yes it would be very useful as I am having to put together a second set of tools for pre 1980's stuff

Aha!

Whitworth, AF, UNF, UNC, unified, there's terms I understand!!

1/4, 1/8th 16th, thou' all these youngsters can't understand what we mean!

how many times has someone said to you " its tight, needs about 5 thou' taken off it"   people look at me stupid when i say things like that in here (my workshop) they just say Doh? or what the F......

Metric is fine, and I understand it, but 0.005 of a mil just doesn't sound right to me, but 3 thou' does!

I have a couple of old Dennis lawnmowers I keep the imperial tools for and yes, Whitworth BSF and thou's are what built these fine machines and what also help build our diverse manufacturing process. (when we had one to speak of) :y :y

As a special treat to myself for not getting too angry with the idiots I have to deal with every day, I treated myself to a set.

Well overpriced at £29, but good value at £8 I reckon, particularly if they withstand the same abuse my other Hellfrauds tools endure.

I did pick up some Hellfrauds screwdrivers a couple of years back when they were on a daft cheap web offer.  The handles mean they are shite, so I don't use them as screwdrivers, but Halfords always replace them when I overcook it using them as a chisel ::)

Top shock mount nuts are 24 iirc, but really needs to be cranked, could do with some larger sizes but will they actually get used on the omega?

Yep, I think I have all sizes from 6-19mm (which get lots of use) plus 20, 21, 22, 24, 27, 30, 32mm, 34mm (and a few other bigger ones).

24mm gets quite a bit of use on EGR pipes and for holding cams.

The others get mixed use.

So yes, at 8 quid its not a bad buy and will be used
