Dear Manager:
We are a Network Service Company which is the domain name registration center in Shanghai, China. On September,8th,2010, We received HUATAI Company's application that they are registering the name "martinimber" as their Internet Trademark and "martinimber.cn","martinimber.com.cn" ,"martinimber.asia"domain names etc.,It is China and ASIA domain names. But after auditing we found the brand name been used by your company. As the domain name registrar in China, it is our duty to notice you, so I am sending you this Email to check.According to the principle in China, your company is the owner of the trademark,In our auditing time we can keep the domain names safe for you firstly, but our audit period is limited, if you object the third party application these domain names and need to protect the brand in china and Asia by yourself, please let the responsible officer contact us as soon as possible. Thank you!
Kind regards
Angela Zhang

Scam, scam, scam.
Registering a name takes seconds, you don't need an application. If "HUATAI" have already registered it then they cannot claim "In our auditing time we can keep the domain names safe for you firstly". Methinks they just want your money.
Ignore it. :y

I would guess that they hope to sell the domain names to you to protect your 'business'. Lots of businesses do register all the relevant names even if they don't bother to point them at their site. It helps prevent competitors from capturing market share, detractors from damaging your image etc.
Or, they might just be fishing for confidential info on you.
This one (http://music-electronics-forum.com/t21075/) is very similar to yours.

Ignore it.
Even if it was genuine (its not), they would struggle to win any battle to take your co.uk as you could prove that you are not domain squatting.
If it was a TLD, you could ave more of a challenge.

Pretty sure it was one, but never seen it before

If you ever have a .com, you can guarantee getting a written letter from Domain Companys of America or something similar, where they try to scare people into handing over their domains to them without really realising it.

I have a couple of domainnames (.co.uk) that i 'squat' on.....theres no website....however i do use their email addresses. But, iirc, if before buying the domainname...you check with companies house, there isnt a company registered, with the name of the domainname you want....get it....and any company registering after you have bought it, can do diddly squat that someone else owns the domainname, apart from offering to buy it off you :y
