biggest issue i have with my tom tom is that you have to pay for the map updates.
My nokia has been used more recently due to free maps on it and works just as well :y

Whilst I have TomTom and others (got a selection, as few cover all countries) on my mobile phone, I never use it in the UK, as the 10yr old Siemens system is far, far, far better, despite lacking postcode inputs and speed camera warnings.

You can always rely on TomTom/Navman/Garmin or any other portable unit to let you down and screw you over (because Satnav makes you lazy, and you never look at a map and consider the journey beforehand).  Proper car systems work so much better.

I should add, I even rated the even older, slower CARiN fitted to minifacelifts more than my shiny, whizzy TomTom unit.  In fact I replaced my TomTom with a CARiN (long since removed now in favour of the Siemens)

Yes Steve, I am.  But when I do go out I aim for derbyshire and like to go as the sun rises and take my camera as there is some wonderfull wildlife to capture as pictures. plus derwent vally, lady bower reservoir etc.  I then just tootle off following/aiming anything I can see at a distance and aim for it.  So with the tomtom it doesnt matter where i end up, it's then just the easiest way home, plus I have a mate in oldham who has just had a heart attack and I have never been to his house, if the sat nav said I was say an hour from his home I would pop over.

Just handy to have and far superior to the car sat nav. :y

Good theory, but simply easier to read at a glance if in trafic or travelling at speed.
