Yeah,i have to say i love a laugh a joke and a right good carry on but if someone was to tell me a joke about abuse of children etc i am more liable to smack them in the face than laugh >:(
No need for it on here either, and if you feel the urge to,then DONT...... then go crawl back under your rock! >:( >:(

Well said Youth :y :y :y
Fully back you all the way every time

Who would joke about children?
Apart from Gary Glitter ones but he's grown up.
Can't say I have heard any!??!?
-
Moved here from the sticky at the top of the section which is now locked.
I also agree. There is, quite simply, a line that will not be permitted to be crossed on OOF.
ta.... :y

but the kids involved which lead to his prosecution wasnt?
humour is a fine line which as an admin once pointed out, in the written form on a forum can be taken not always as intended.
how do you distinguish between funny and not funny.
(not having a go at anyone, just open chat)

There are jokes we may well tell eachother but would be unsuitable to post here or on other forums as you never know who might read them.
I bet many of our phones are full of such! ::)
-
TBH, I rarely post jokes on here for exactly that reason Guy. Some are funny, some could be read the wrong way so not worth it.
I agree... Jokes are a fine line and we need to be careful :y :y
-
Somebody, somewhere, always has to be the butt of a joke. Seeing as we are a global site, and added to the fact virtually every single joke on OOF is a rehashed, tired piece that wasn't even funny the first time around, I reckon they are best left to the pub ;)

The original post and poster (mad stokie) seem to have been deleted during the moving process! :-/

I like inappropriate jokes. They're usually very appropriate. :y
-
In order that we don't cross the line, could we please have the definition of an inappropriate joke?

Here a start which for me is good enough.
Quote from DLK Sticky.
I will delete any sick children jokes, racists or anything of a similar nature.

Not really Mike, many jokes involving race would probably be deemed suitable for family viewing. Its a minefield tbh, usually defined by what is considered presently appropriate or not, and how sensitive the race/religion involved is perceived as being by whomever is responsible for policing the matter - on this forum or elsewhere.
For example - since Daz posted regarding racist jokes not being tolerated, there have been many Irish jokes and probably a few Scottish and Welsh jokes posted. These go unmentioned, but I would imagine jokes which mentioned skin colour or religions other than Christianity would probably be deleted quickly. Its a funny old world sometimes. :-/

It is a minefield... ::)
We are at our caravan site and on Saturday night there was an 'old skool' comedian on, you could see how he was 'testing' the audience, who were all up for anything (average jo public from wide area) and was a cracking night... :y :y He did keep things low keyed or over the heads of kids, who were present, we had a great night. General opinion was that is was a shame that 'Old Skool' is generally considered not appropriate today and a great shame....
:( :(
Different on here though, as you do not know who is one.... ::)
OOF wise fair enough, otherwise I need to bite my tounge.... :(

I'm glad that some of you spotted the problem. One man's meat is another man's poison!

You finally admit that you are a joke, and an inappropriate one at that. ;D
-
Shurrup you! If wit was sh*t & sh*t could fly you'd be an astronaut! ;D ;)

Adding to this thread regards another thread ages ago. Can we go back and add joke or NWS if the title requires it of add a suitable smiley indicating (to a degree) that what is about to be read is a joke.
Newbied on the site wont be aware of the old problems with jokes. It's just that some members have kids in thier pressence and jokes are bot allways suitlable eith kids or pertners in the same room. some are ment no more than a joke but are sometimes talen seriously and others are picture jokes which sometimes are not suitable for family viewing or at work viewing.
