My 24 year old son ventured out of his bedroom today (very, very unusual at the weekend) and quite spontaneously offered to make me a cheese roll. The first - Ever!
What should I do?
1. Accept the offer, sit back and wait for the favour to be called in
2. Decline the offer, make my own cheese roll but still expect to be asked to come to his aid in some (possibly small) way
3. Run for my life
I am really worried that there is a BIG call for a favour looming or he's about to drop a bombshell.

can you get some diazepam to calm your nerves till whatever it is happens ;D ;D ;D

A favour is definitely in the offing - do not take the roll.

Well, that didn't take very long to manifest itself. I should have followed my own instinct and gone for Option 3 and buggered off for a couple of hours. It's a round trip to Cambridge for me (about 100 miles) with a wait of about an hour and a half in the middle so that, and I quote "I don't have to drive all the way home only to drive back and get him again". Now that's an understanding son.

Option 4. Ask him why he's still living at home at his age & does'nt have his own car? I was a Daddy & set up home with his Mum @ 22. ::)

Amigo. Been there done that. He was at Uni for 3 years then had his own flat for 6 mnths but now he's back.
Job done now anyway but he did pay me - :D - and actually made it worth my while. I always knew he'd turn out ok in the end. The only problem now is grief from the missus for taking money from him. He'll probably get free housekeeping for a month then I'll be even worse off. Still, dilema over - for the time being.
