Not sorn'd, no.

If it's not been taxed or sorn'd from the beginning of Sept then I would think that DVLA will automatically tax it from when the old disc ran out ..... or fine you for not sorning it for Sept  ::) ::) ;)

I've just bought it though, and it has been left off the road.

Can't order online anyway because they'll send it to the previous RO, so they've got me all ends up now, I either lose a month for the same money or drive it around illegally, which I'm not prepared to do, the DVLA are a bunch of wakners.  >:(  >:(

Can't you sorn it from the date you bought it? You'd then be able to tax it when we get to Oct.  :-/

I may just give in, I won't have it in 5 months, but I want to drive it now legally  :-/

Considering you spend £400 on phone calls, I wouldn't have thought a months road tax would be too much of a drain on your resources.  ::)

Buy a tax disc or don't buy a tax disc. You're using up all the server space. ;D

Then you need to tax it now or renew the SORN now. If the previous owner didn't SORN it you will either be liable for backdated tax since it expired or they will fine you for not declaring SORN.

It's happened to a few mates of mine. They have bought cars / wrecks that are supposedly SORN only to have the DVLA chase them 6 months later for a huge fine. If you sort it out as soon as you buy the car there's less opportunity for them to shaft you.

How can I be liable though considering the tax ran out end of August, I purchased yesterday (21-09-2010)? Thanks for the info too Kevin it's good to know all this  :y

Pete, I'll still lose a month though, and conviniently the little green slip off the log book has gone walkies  >:(

Should be Ok then. You either need to tax it from 1st September now or declare SORN so September is covered. :y

This is now though where the issue lies, I need to have to logbook to be able to SORN it, which I don't have, and I need the green slip to tax it which I don't have?

This was way too cheap to pass mate. I don't care if something has no doors, if I can make money legally then I'll buy it  :y
