Having worked with some of our members of the indian sub continent where I have used them as contractors (TCS), they are very 'lastminute.com'

Will they pull it off, who knows, they will certainly tell you everything is ok until it falls on its arse

its been the biggest shambles since the disastrous Edinburgh games in the 80's, when Cap'n Bob had to bail us out by putting up the money (actually he never did put up the money, but he did get a lot of good press....mainly in his own papers  ;D)

of course they should go, stay in hotels if they have to - if they don't go, this could be the end of the Commonwealth Games  :o

I must say that I don't care either way as I'm uninterested in sport. :y

What I can't figure out, and what I find frustrating, is the tendency for broadcast news editors to put stories like this at the top of the running order. :( [smiley=thumbdown.gif]

it's a bit like when the inevitable floods come to some miserable little town in England, cue saturation ( ::)) coverage of dozens of reporters in North Face gear and wellies standing in a foot of water like they were in 'Nam under heavy fire or something  ;D

Oh for the days of a single television channel and a strong print media that had nothing to with Murdoch or the Captain.(And their ilk)

The thing is, they say they are worried about the cleanliness etc, there going to India, they are going to get Delhi belly anyway!

Actually, that might be an opportunity.....place a single pristine toilet with super soft toilet roll at the end of the 100m straight.....we could be on for a new world record!

Me too, on both counts. The drivel has been in the headlines all week. Must be a slow week for news? Can't they dig up some dirt on someone for a change? ;)

I'm tempted to liken these problems to the Vuvuselas in S.A.  If that's how the locals do it then live with it.  We supposedly stopped westernising India donkey's year ago.

Playing Devil's Advocate perhaps. :)

worst monsoon season in 40 odd years held up the construction a lot, which obviously has a knock on effect on plumbers, carpenters, electricians, etc......it happens - wait 'til 2012 London Olympics if you think this is bad  :y

I am a 2012 sceptic, have been from the start. I hate most sport and I reckon it will cost us poor taxpayers a fortune, but I have driven/ridden past the Stratford site 3 times in the last 10 days and I must say it is looking very impressive indeed. I would be surprised if it isnt finished on time. Although there will inevitably be a few hiccups, there always are. :-/
As for India - they had their chance. blew it. Pull out - send them the bill for the expenses imo. ;)
