Just laughing at the santander farce, number of customers leaving them and coming to the bank I work for is hilarious

I must be one of the few customers who has been happy with my bank for over 20 years.

I'm not surprised, Santander (UK) is getting to be a bloody joke now. [smiley=thumbdown.gif] [smiley=thumbdown.gif] [smiley=thumbdown.gif]

Be very afraid. Spanish customer service is a coming! You may have thought British customer service was bad.   :D :D :D :D

The mother in law is moving from Alliance and Leicester to Nationwide as soon as she can. She still hasn't got her bank book (over 3 weeks now).

I have been with mine for 20+ years just happen to work for them now.
some of the stuff santander are doing though is really bad. I spoke to a women today in her 70s and the froze her accounts for no reason (we have documented letters confirming as such when credit check was run) she had no money to pay for shopping for a week and had to borrow from her family >:(

I have found them a not very funny joke Zulu for the last 8 years.  But I have played them at their own game since succesfully claiming back £2,000 in bank charges.  Now they pay all my DD's & SO's, handle my regular account, for free, whilst another bank keep all my deposits.  So Santander do all the work and the other bank give me the benefits. Works well :D :D :D :D

Careful Steve, if your neighbours can hear you, they can say its 'Antisocial Behaviour', or AB as it's now known in the circles of Power, it's the new Government 'Soundbite' apparently? ;D

My neighbours soundproofed their walls several years ago.  ;D

In a local retail park I notice that they are busy building a branch for Metro Bank (the first new bank launch in 100yrs). The bank claims "Britons are dying for revolution in the banking business, focused on service, and we are here to provide it."

Let's see.  :-/

It seems to be the only way to deal successfully with them Lizzie. :y

I've had it and am taking everything I have with them to another provider tomorrow.

It got to be hard work trying to ensure that I wasn't being diddled with maturing bonds being reinvested in supposedly attractive alternatives. (Until the small print was examined that is)

Now back in those early days when they were a building Society Maria they were good.  I started to save with them, and so did my ex, in 1969, getting a mortgage from their Eastleigh Branch in 1980.  They were very friendly, helpful, and welcomed you as an individual customer.  But they became a bank, and then became in a seemingly short space of time less than friendly and helpful, and almost dismissive of your custom, ignoring you as an individual and forgetting how long you had been a customer with them.

Over the last 8 years that has become progressively worse, until now you are made to feel as though you should go elsewhere as they do not want your custom!

Appalling!! >:( >:(

I heard something on the radio taday about some new bank (or banking scheme) which is being set up to lend money to people who otherwise wouldnt be able to borrow it.
Am I missing something or is this uncannily similar to the sub prime banking idea in the U.S. which went a long way to getting the worlds economies in the state they are currently in ? :-/
