I really love the line up of Austin A30's :-* :-* :-* :-*
One of those was the first car I ever went in during 1957 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)
-
Very nice Opti :y
Lizzie, the first car I ever owned was a dark green Austin A35, I was 17 and it cost me £8! I once had it full to gunwhales with 7 up (people not the drink :D) & the exhaust tail pipe dragging a rut in the tarmac!!! ::) Happy Days! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D :y

Yes it is too easy to forget the larger engined car that looked very similiar to the A30, but came out as the A35.
That must have been a lovely car to own as a teenager Phil, as my A40 was at 17 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)

An early hatchback.....I believe Lizzie.. :-*

A35 van was the first car I actually owned. Bought for £15 sold for £55. Needed a valve replacing, new (white/yellow) number plates and some T-Cut (Tetrosyl in those days) and some 'nearly right' paint.
Actually in my avatar right now!

The A30 was my first car...small moon shaped rear window, long gearstick and 948cc engine. The A35 had the larger window and short gearstick...not sure on engine size :y
Did a de-coke on mine and fitted Austin Healey Sprite bits ....geeez...did it go ;D ;D
EDIT* I am having thoughts now that My A30 was 803CC !!!!! :y

Here you are Mark; a A35 engine, with all round pictures, and it's for sale.
Brings back a lot of memories as it was the first engine I had to strip down 8-) 8-) 8-)

..........and again for Mark, yesterday I saw a wonderful example of a Jaguar E-Type V12, like this but in light blue:

The Engine Mark in these, as no doubt you know, was a massive lump:

I think the Zephyr could be a 4 or a 6 with the single headlight grille. The twin headlight grille denotes Zodiac all of which were 6's. Guy. 8-)

I thought that the 6 had a bar running through the centre of the grille. :y

You might be right Opti, I think Stromberg’s had an oil reservoir in that raised neck. The top was closed off by a screwed plunger that had to be operated regularly to damp the piston within the carb.
-
They are Strombergs, but the SU also had the oil damper.
-
An Imp! My father had two of those...yes, he bought another one after having the first one...er, there was less choice back then :-[

Aah, that's the name I couldn't remember Lizzie :-* - Volvo used them on their B series engines except in the 123GT which had twin SU's. (If I remember correctly)
