Title: Project TB1
Post by: TheBoy on 21 August 2006, 21:34:09
As some of you may have guessed, I've jumped on the bandwagon and bought a project car. I won't mention how much it cost, but was sold with 'headgasket failure'.

Many thanks to Tunnie for giving up his Sunday evening to help me pick it up. Thanks to Ronnie McB as well for his advice  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Looks like it may be an oil cooler, as no sign of water in oil, and can't smell exhaust in coolant bottle. Shit loads of oil in the coolant though.  Also has a coolant leak, which I've now located to the pipe between the hbv and where it the coolant enters the block. Bet the dealers won't stock that!

Gotta wait until Wednesday to get replacement cooler, so hopefully can look at a couple of electrical niggles tomorrow.

£750? Damn, you gave the game away ;)

This coolant pipe, its the rubber one, about 3/4 inch diamter, about 12" long if straight, but with loads of bends in. Goes from Heater Bypass Valve to the metal bit that allows water flow to both sides of V right above oil cooler. How quickly could you get it to me if you have one?

Its not available as the car its off has the extra coolant pump so the pipe goes from the back of the block and around to the header tank area.

This one has the pump as well, where cruise normally is. But still got this short pipe from HBV to coolant bridge...?

Yeah, will try and take some piccies maybe tonight.

Mrs TheBoy took some piccies with the plenum and intake bridges removed to show a socket that the previous mechanic had left behind....
