Title: Depressed
Post by: Mysteryman on 05 October 2010, 09:34:20
I have had a really bad head cold since last Friday (Man-flu obviously). It has made me feel dizzy and tired.
My wife is being inspected by OFSTED starting today, she got the phone call on Friday morning. She worked till 9 0'clock on Friday, all day Saturday and Sunday and finished at ten last night. She was up and out at 5:30 this morning.
I have had to look after my 11 year old son, who has aspergers, all weekend. Hard work when I sometimes felt I couldn't even stand up without falling back down.
But this morning the sun was shining, I felt better and I was confident the inspection would go well. I took my lad to school and even managed a little whistle on the way home.....UNTIL!!!!!!!!!

I spotted that one of my neighbours has put her effing christmas tree up, complete with chocolate santas and fairy lights. This has knocked me back to the depths of despair. People just cannot wait to remind you that time is moving on and that's one less year for me to exist. :(

Valentines day, halloween, grandparents day and any other rather day that American retailers invented to get hold of our cash.

WTF!!! :o :o :o

Christmas decorations never go up inside our place until after my birthday on the 19th. Sometimes I'll put the lights up outside earlier though.

I'm not a big fan of Christmas but can understand why some people go mad for it and I make the effort for any little ones we may have around. Last year we did our usual open house on Christmas Eve and our friends brought their little girl along. I started showing her the NORAD Santa Tracker and she thought it was wonderful... Made it all worth while :y :y

I don't suppose they have a good reason for bring Christmas forward so much? Terminal illness in the family? Someone going away for Christmas (and I don't mean on holiday!) :-? :-?

I LOVE Christmas!!! I'm a 100% Christmas fanatic, in our house we 'observe' the 12 days of Christmas.

But putting a tree up in October?!?!?!  :-? That's going too far.

The stores have put their Christmas stuff out even earlier this, our Tesco's had Advent calendars etc. out about 3 weeks ago!

It's too soon!!!! Do they think we'll buy more of it just because it's out earlier and earlier each year?

STMO, all I can do is give some advice.. :-/

try some "one a day" vitamins (contrary to the name not everyday ) , also pistachio + some red fruits (or juice) ..

and regular distance walking minimum 3 days a week.. you will feel a lot better..

I discovered that human feeling (although highly dependant on events)  are effected by blood chemistry and oxygene levels..

I hope those will help you (although you may already know)  :)

The stock excuse: Some of our customers have to budget very carefully over Christmas and this gives them the opportunity to buy their Christmas goods over an extended period.

Meaning: People used to get into debt by paying for Christmas right through the following year. Now that credit is tight, we'll have their cash before the event.

I work in retail so we had the old chocolate advent calanders in weeks ago and the Christmas music will soon yet again completely ruin the fond memories I used to have of Slades Merry Xmas ! The next door neighbour has already been playing her Xmas music CD so sympathise with you stmo (as I do with having a son with AS too). I mean, it isnt even Halloween yet! ;D

My guess is that Christmas will be early so that the January Sales can get in before the VAT increase.  It's highly unlikely that Jesus was born on the 25th anyway so what's the bother?

In fact, if the retailerswe moved it earlier every year, we could get an extra one in and one of them might even be on the right day!

Then if we made the other profitablecelebration days every 354 days, we could have more of those as well.

Good idea STMO! ;D ;D ;D

BTW.  I hope your head gets better and your missus gets through the persecutioninspection well, and laddy-boy enjoys life!

Simples, eat the chocolate santas. Universal cure for all ills except perhaps obesity ;D ;D

If i had my way the xmas tree would go up on xmas eve and come down on Boxing Day, and thats two days to long.

If i was on my own i think i'd pack the fishing gear up and spend xmas week by a lake in the middle of nowhere with now phone or radio etc

Been there, done that, not sure how I lived through it.  You have my deepest sympathy.   :( :( :(

But that was a few years ago.  This year, my wife, who is never ill and never takes a day off was stricken with a very serious chest infection.  The headteacher at her school told me to take her home and keep her there as she clearly wasn't fit enough to manage a class of 30 seven year olds.  Two days later, the school got the OFSTED call.  My good lady had a very lucky escape - even a collapsed lung was less hassle than an inspection. :)

I don't buy it Steve, it's Lfc that is causing your symptoms and the fact you have not mentioned it means your in denial as well. Now go and support a proper football club and cheer yourself up...maybe Aston Villa would be an improvement?  :P
