hi well after living with the mrs for seven years she wants to get married but cash is very short as im not working but have been saving hard[not easy on 60 quid a week] and as she says im not romantic ive decided to surprise her and drag her up to gretna green to do the wicked deed.
now im going to plan it for her birthday in january as its on a saturday[and i wont have to get her a birthday prezzie]. so i can tell her we going away for the weekend.my mate and his wife have agreed to come up as well to be witness.
now there seam to be a few places to get married in gretna, but what was the original?is it still there?or can anybody recomend anywhere?
we also need somewhere to stay will be traveling on friday and comeing back on sunday so need somewhere for 2 nights for four people
we will also need somewhere to go for a celebration meal
so if anyone has any experince or can point me in the right direction id appreciate it
thanks

I do know you need to book in advance, you cant just turn up and get married any more

Used to be the blacksmiths shop in years gone by --- but these days anywhere in Gretna goes! You now have to abide by certain residency rules though, I think. Best to check though :y

my mate went through these

What are you doing man? RUN! ;D ;)

Don't want to put you off, but we passed through Gretna a few years ago and it looked like something of a tourist trap. I don't know, but I suspect it might be somewhat expensive.
Might be cheaper to zoom off to Nevada. :)

I must admit that If swmbo and I were to marry, after 12 years together, then this would be my plan......Good Luck and I shall follow this progress with genuine interest..... :y :y :y

nevada might be better so might spain.italy/cyprus etc
