Pay no heed to the pee takers RB for they shiver/sweat in tents or don't go at all so what do they know? All talk & no trousers. My little Elddis (Whirlwind GTX) an Elite in it's day cost the princely sum of £200. In 2 years it's been to OOF & my Classic car meets, cooked many meals & i would'nt be without it. I want some piccies too.
I believe Paul [lazy docker} holds the cheapest van on the forum record...he only had to pick it up!!!! Guy. 8-)

I'm stuck in the middle ground. I'm not a caravanner in the respect of joining the club & staying on expensive sites where you can't do anything & visiting local attractions. Mine's purely used for car meets or other events where friends are doing the security/first aid ambulance events. These are always a riot at night times & i pay no camping or admission fees. As some of you know the joy of a van is that most of your gear is packed already. Crockery, cutlery, tinned food etc. No need to put it up when you get there or take it all down when you leave. You can hang clothes up, watch telly, Radio/CD go on line, cook, brew up & sleep in a proper bed.
Would'nt be without mine now. :y

Welcome to the fold!!
Have had over 5 caravans now, the latest is a folder, honourary pikey now, methinks....................
Once you go there, you will never go back to a tent,..........ever. :y :y
WELL DONE!

That's because your getting to old to camp now ;D ;D

So you'd say no to a wekend away in a caravan, but yes to a weekend away in a tent then???
mines got TV/DVD, heater, and carpeted floors with mains and everything. Tents have..............rough floors, no comforts, they are cold, and you get wet when it rains.
NO CONTEST.

I didn't say I would say no to a weekend away in a caravan ::) ;)

A caravan, I think..
Say, sixstring, do you happen to have any 'leftover' tarmac you can do my drive with? :P ;D ;D
A serious question, though.. where do you all store your caravans? Or do your houses all look like a family of pikeys live there now ;)

ACTUALLY, mines a folder, and it lives on its side on a set of wheels by the side of the garage out of the way of everything.
Most people round here, keep theirs down the drive near the garage, and put their car up close to it at night.
(can't get into the garage to put my car in anymore, though..............but the motorbike still fits in!)
-
Ahh .. see I did wonder; my folks used to have a caravan (in which I got taken on holiday as a kid) and as my Dad was in the RAF at the time there was storage available on the base.. after leaving the RAF they had to pay to store it somewhere.
Not that I'm considering it.
You understand.
Not me.
-
I always wonder why people keep the van at home,
when its missing its like a neon sign saying the house is empty.
ours is down the side of the garage, btw ;D
-
thought of that..................
that's why I have an Intruder alarm, floodlights, and cameras all around my house!!
(guess what I do for a living......)

Same as my next door neighbour. Cameras and floodlights have all been shot out. Still got his intruder alarm though. ::)
