He said: "It is on a main thoroughfare - including a route to school - and is bombarded with a huge number of sticks, branches and even metal bars.

"We don't want to spoil anyone's fun, but after last year's incident, and following some damage to nearby properties, it was decided to collect the conkers for children to safely pick up from the ground to avoid the possibility of further injuries."

the park near my mum was so nice, was full of kids playing football, pitches marked out as well. so now its got small hills everywhere and huge rocks so the kids cant play there no more. at a cost of 1.5 million if i'm correct. so if you walk through on the paths nobody will see you from the rds now,its prime mugging spot

As above it appears to be on a main school route, also the amount of debris generated from one of those trees is quite a bit, one just down road from my flat.

I suspect this has happened before, its just a slow news day!

After all, dodging the falling debris while collecting conkers was all part of the fun. It was the fun in a game of conkers, in fact. It was pretty boring once you'd threaded it onto your shoe lace, TBH.

Bit like the game I have been playing today. Stringing up antennas in the trees at the local scout hut.  ;D
