Title: Crazy, but true !
Post by: RolandL on 07 May 2007, 20:44:03
As the days get nicer, thoughts turn to keeping your Omega in tip top condition, cleaning and polishing is always time well spent. Having gone through this labour of love, I step back to admire my handy work, every thing is well except.....my bumper inserts!  Instead of being a lovely shade of black, as Vauxhall intended, the rear is is a horrible grey colour  :(

What to do, how could I restore my karma.  :-/  I could use some back to black bumper restorer, as I have in the past. Being mindful of the planet and not wishing to pump any more chemicals into the air, I needed a more organic solution.  I remember a conversation with a wise woman, who suggested a substance to use on the bumper the would restore them to their former glory, that would last longer than sprays, is cheaper and is readily available.

Having obtained said substance I despatched SWMBO, (with rubber gloves ) to the car to apply. I was berrated with howls of derrision and cries of "this will never work" and "you've finally lost you marbles".

After a while we both stood back and looked at the result.  Stunned silence, it's worked, it's brought the bumpers back to their former glory!  We couldn't believe it, the car looks as it should, Karma is now restored

Goes to show Granny knows best.

The miricle substance ?

Peanut butter !   Something to do with the natural oils.

Oh, and before anyone asks, it's the smooth variety  :y

It does work. Only one drawback that I can see, you don't half feel like a sandwich while putting it on  ;D

Do you think Marmite on the bumper would work, as we have a cupboard full....

The wise woman never mentioned Marmite, you could always be the first to try it and let us know the results   :y

In the theme of food polish, try banana skins on your shoes if you need a quick fix - it works  :y

I meant rub the skins on your shoes as they contain oil, not cover your shoes in banana skins to cover up the scuffs before anyone posts back (STMO).  That would just be stupid 8-)
