Well we are off up north in the morning to Blackpool and was wandering if there are any major problems that occure on a daily basis on the M6 :-?
-
Birmingham is always slow....
personally think the toll road is worth is weight in gold :y
-
Yup, toll road it.
Then the whole section from Stafford up to Knutsford can be a bit tedious, then it generally opens up a bit :)
-
Was planning to use the toll road and maybe come onto the M6 at Cov as I know where aI can get a cheap cup of coffee for nowt ( families do have ther uses sometimes ;) ;D )
-
Til 29 -32 and watch it on the M55 quite a few unmarked cars on there at moment :y

Thanks for that ... well worth knowing :y ;)

Take gloves and a damn warm coat. Its freezing up north! The M6 around Sandbach is always busy. Oh, and just go the toll road, it's £5 but it will save you tearing your hair out around Brum. Expensive, but having done a similar run, it's worth it :)
edit:- bah, beaten like a ginger stepchild :D
-
i like the m6 toll rd. just fly through :y
-
such a shame the toll road is policed :'(
and a rather good job it hasnt been when ive been, ahem, *cough* 'testing' *cough*

Variable. I have to go to Manx a fair bit for work. Some days you sail through, probably never going below 40mph. Other days, handbrake on.

Not the free-for-all it once was. I've routinely seen people pulled in by undercover cars getting tickets on there.
-
Do they still have the unmarked silver skoda patroling the toll rd??

Just wished now I'd stuck to my guns and left in the early hrs of the morning o well its all the fun of the fair I suppose :y :)

Watch out on one of the Bridges between j14 stafford and j15 at stoke. always unmarked cars waiting to pounce there (normally Black Skoda VRS). Roadworks at junc 10 and 12 for 2- 3 mile streches down to 40 mph. :y
-
Juctions 17 to 20 are always busy ::)
-
ohhh, and watch out for the new variable speedlimits too, think they are only southbound currently though :-/
-
went up the other weekend. from burton via stoke m6. took 3 & half hours :o. m6 was terrible.

You'll be depressed. It's grim up north.
-
Just be careful drinking the beer, one pint and you'll be on your back. Its not like the shandy you southerners drink down there ;D

Where does the north of england start from anyway? Using the M6 i would say from junction 15 leaving stoke?
:)

i havent used it for about 4 years and it was empty at 7am on the sunday i went on it, i was flat out foot to the floor. i was told the day it opened they got 20 people in an hr for doing over 100mph.
-
I wonder how much they would make if they put variable speed limits on it, ranging from all the usual speeds, to derestricted at quiet times :-/
-
Unless you hit it at rush hour the toll road is a waste of a fiver IMHO. Now, before it was so heavily policed I might have held a different view. ::)

You know, I use the toll road quite a bit as it's a useful jog round Brum back to my gaff and I have never seen one Traffic Officer, despite always driving at 68.5mph. Ahem. It's probably a time thing and I just seem to miss them. ;)
Now when I used to live in your neck of the woods Jimbob myself and a few friends had many a happy evening 'testing' on the roads round there. Mind you, that was back in the 80's when the local copper in Connah's Quay had a Mini 1000, complete with big round tit on the roof.
Happy days! ;D
