i guarantee that round my area, people would just think "do i know him?"

most of the omega drivers round here i've noticed pay more attention to the road ahead and dont seem to look over at other omegas

Most coach drivers also wave or nod heads to each other...........................

I always look at other megga's that I see on the road, never flashed or waved though!  Reckon it is a good idea.

Just be aware that if you flash your lights and someone else takes it as an invitation to pull out in front of you, you might have a problem.

That would be their fault. Flashing your lights should only be to indicate your presence.... in theory ;)

well if they did it would be their problem?? your told on your test that if someone flashes at you it doesnt mean pull out. headlights are'nt a signal its ok to pull out.

headlights are much more effective in trying to get the point of 'get out the rather way' accross to some dozy sod doing 55 mph in the the fast lane.

Yes Yes, we all know that it only indicates your prescence etc etc but I for one am not willing to take the chance.

Everyone has a responsibility to drive carefully and to flash your headlights and then say it is someone elses problem is really not in the spirit of the Highway Code.

If I am ever flashed at by one of you guys, please don't be offended if I don't flash back.

For those of you who choose to flash then I hope you don't have any problems as a result

on my driving lessons i was told that a long flash is to make you aware of presence, but a series of short intermittent flashes is an invitation to go

I am afraid that is a complete load of rubbish. I hope it wasn't a qualified driving instructor who told you that!

I went to sidmouth over the bank holiday and was suprised at how many omega's there are down that way.
It's the first long trip ive done in my megga and all was well.
2hr trip on the way down and the other half watched a film on the way down then a hole 4 hrs to get back.
Was not happy but did get to lissen to 2 films on the way back.
Once back drove my civic across town and was so bumpy i couldnt wait to get back in the megga.
Back to the topic in hand i did get waved at by a few other megga drivers down that way so i joined in.

FAST LANE!!!

I hate that!....

Lane 1 on a motorways speed limit ---- 70 MPH
Lane 2 on a motorway speed limit? ---- 70 MPH
Lane 3 (aka FAST LANE!) speed limit ? -- 70 MPH

am i making my point !

P.S. emergency services always wave / flash headlights at each other.... wave more than flash because of the reason it can be mis-interperated!

Err? So that's the 'slow' lane, 'bit faster' lane and the 'fast' lane are all 70 mph then??  ;D  ;D  :y

What if there are 4 of 'em?

What if there are 4 of 'em?

4 lanes would still be 70 MPH limit, the keyword there being "limit"

its advised to drive as close to the limit as possible to avoid congestions, some people dont like motorways and choose to drive at 60, certain vehicles aren't permitted to drive at 70 hence multiple lanes, remember, the whole point of motorways is pretty much a short cut for long distance

i only said 'fast lane' as it what is commanly reffered too.

i know there is no 'fast lane or 'lorry lane'

you should be on the left unless overtaking regardless of speed or what vehicle your in.

even more infuriating when your travelin on a quite motorway in lane 1 and some twonk is sitting in lane 2 when there is nothing insight ahead, you have to go lane two then 3 to pass then all way back to lane 1 and they still sit in lane 2.

I agree. But rightly or wrongly I stay where I am ...... in lane 1  :-? Some do take the hint & move back over, other I imagine mutter profanities to themselves as I pass  ::)

duely noted, if you dont like the motorway and wish to drive slower, the first lane is the lane to use

there are no strict rules in place, just the "slow/fast.overtake" guidelines, its PURE common sense that is needed to use motorways efficiently

if you know you're gonna hover around the 75 mark then you should automatically be in the middle lane, passing the slower traffic that SHOULD be settled at a slower speed in the first lane, and if someone is passing slow traffic at 65-70 in the middle lane then you'd rightfully pull out into the overtaking lane

this is all assuming there's a medium volume of motorway traffic, i hardly use motorways and on the rare occasions i do (once at 2am) i do notice the odd shed cruising at 60 down the centre lane when there's only 2 other cars down that entire half mile stretch, and there's just no need

Oh GOD! I live in Stoke, suppose I'm in the firing line, better tell the wife, she'll come home and tell me she's pulled if she gets flashed at... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Had use to have VW's (Aircooled), all the Aircooled owners had used to flash at each other country / internationally wide...  VW's are slower mode of transport...  My concern with the Omega's is that the car in front may pull over thinking that we're the Fuzz, Nee, Nor, Nee, Nor............

I suppose you could argue that the traffic in your lane is moving faster than the traffic in their lane so it's ok to undertake... ;)

I have on a few occassions passed a middle lane hogger on the inside, but only when I really can't be bothered to pull all the way out and in again. You never know, they might suddenly come out of their daze and realise they need to pull over and if you're there then ... whoops.

Anyone tried the 'middle lane circling game'? You come accross someone sitting in the middle lane when there's an empty carriageway, you pull out from the inside lane, overtake them, pull back in, slow down, let them pass, pull back out and overtake them again!  I've not yet had the opportunity of trying it. I usually have the missus in the car and I'd get an earfull, but I can't wait to try it out on someone!  ;D
