Title: Anyone local to Oxford with an estate or van?
Post by: joshwyatt on 24 October 2010, 15:01:54
Hopefully, I'll be buying a facelift saloon interior tomorrow; door cards, front and rear seats.
Most of it would fit in my saloon, especially if I remove the rear seats in advance. But I know it won't all fit in there.
Is there anybody tomorrow with either a van or estate who'd be willing to go with me to Cirencester (36 miles from me) to help me pick up the items?

I will of course pay for your fuel and time without hesitation  :y

Or, perhaps someone with a saloon who can go with me?
I take my car and they take theirs so it all fits.
Sorry it's such short notice...i.e. tomorrow.

You can get it all in....... just!

Take out the rear bench in yours first before collecting, out of the stuff you buy:

1) rear bench in place of yours
2) fold down rear seats
3) the two front seats of the ones you bought, make them 'flat' ie adjust them so they are lent back as far as possible. Put them through the boot, with the backs poking through into the cabin.
4)Chuck all the door cards in the boot & in top of the stuff on back seats

ohh and take loads of rugs and stuff, as the runners/mounts are sharp and can easily be cut if leather  :y

I did initially think about that Tunnie, but it's Elite leather to replace my Elite velour. And the front seats I expect will be in the normal upright position and have been removed from the vehicle already. Without power, I wasn't sure if the cranking handle thing can recline the backrest?
If so, then that's all sorted...thanks Tunnie  :y

Humm ah, forgot about leccy leather. They cannot fold as flat as good old non-leccy ones.

Option B, would be put one of the front seats on your passenger seat, the other on its side in the boot.

It should all fit Josh, only last week I had a complete, MV6 interior including Cards and Consul in your old 3.2 red DPG one, that was with the rear seats folded down and still room for a passenger in the front if required.

Take plenty of flat cardboard boxes.

i have to be there at 10 am....  probably till after lunch.... but of course, i am more than happy to fold the seats down in the MV6 and move stuff back to oxford for you.... no problem....    and no fuel costs....  i'm already going to be in cirencester anyway, and coming back to oxford later....

anything to help out.....

They do fit in a saloon, as long as you remove all the back seat first.

In fact, I seem to recall we go all of Kai's cloth back in after Tunnie and I fitted leather in his.

When the pink one delivered a leather interior for my old pre facelift he not only fitted it all into Darth vader (saloon), but he had all his tools and all the parts for the 4 or 5 cars he was going to be working on that weekend. He hadnt removed anything from his own interior.I have no idea how he managed to fit it all in there - you would have to ask him - but I suspect if one thing had been put in a different order none of it would have fitted. I thought at the time he should have changed its name from Darth to the Tardis. :D ;D

Thanks to everyone for the very kind offers. I was going to just hope it would all fit in my saloon, but Max has kindly offered to collect it for me as he's going to be in Cirencester. So, thank you to everyone, I'm now sorted. And thanks Omegatoy, for the kind offer. Are you still going to be here on the 30th? Be excellent to meet you, if you could make it to the Oxford meet.

the added bonus of me already knowing the guy supplying it, and where he is.....   is a bit of luck as well   !!!!   the fact that he's also enroute between Acoustic Energy and my next port of call is just dumb luck.....

Josh, go buy a lottery ticket would you???

my 3 numbers are 8, 11, and 20

you pick 3 as well, and we're bound to win the jackpot.
