Title: Korean F1 spoiler
Post by: Varche on 24 October 2010, 17:42:34
I bet I wasn't the only one to set my alarm clock and get up in the middle of the night to watch this. What a long wait for the race proper to get under way. Once it did there were plenty of incidents and overtaking. Sutil must have won the prize for the most overtakes even if he was taking the same people after running wide countless times.

I didn't like the circuit one bit. You would have thought that he could have designed a better cct than that including a better tarmac surface.

Bit of an up and coming country!!

Ovrall good result. Bring on the final 2 races. :y :y

Best thing would be to lay bets off with other entities so that whatever the outcome you don't have to do the BBQ!! Open a book on OOF e.g. Scotsman to win 200:1
Russian to win 1000:1. You get the idea. ;D ;D ;D

Very wet so "the best drivers in the world" were slipping and sliding all over the place. ::)
I think the cheating arrogant spaniard Alonso, will win the title, Ferrari seem to have a very quick car now (legal ?, off course it is) ;).........would have liked to have seen Webber win it, purely becuase he seems to be a pretty honest, straightforward bloke, which is more than can be said of Vettel or Alonso. It could come down to who has fresh engines left for the last 2 races but I dont really care that much one way or the other though tbh. Dont remember that much overtaking tbh, but to have a big chunk of the race behind the safety car because its raining is ludicrous imo.

Good race but don't get me started on BBC GP coverage. :-X Set the V+ to record the race. Was awake so started watching it at about 7.30am(Half an hour behind). Realised it was going to over run so set the box to record the program after the GP too. Then I find out that they are bloody switching channels  >:( By which time I'd have missed the last 15 laps.
Why the hell couldn't they bump Andrew Marr or whatever his name is onto BBC2.

In the late 70,s/ early 80,s it used to be shown on Sunday grandstand. You would often get a dozen or so laps and then ( normally when it was getting really exciting) they would switch coverage to cricket or darts or something equally as pointless and tedious, returning to the F1 for the last few laps. Often had to watch the highlights show in the evening to try to fill in the gaps as to what happened.
I would still rather have had that patchy coverage of Villenueve/Mansell/Senna etc. than watching a well covered  procession race of  todays version of racing. ;)

That's happened to me before.. so annoying! Mind the Sky+ box is busted at the moment so recording it is not an option ;D

Might not have been so bad but when I stopped for lunch I thought I'd catch up with Iplayer. Guess what, they had the first (BBC1) part of the race and the red button forum but not the second part of the race. Had a quick peep in the iplayer forum on the Beeb's web site and there were one or two people spitting there dummies out over it.
Still never mind. Managed to get through to this evening without hearing the result and it's now on iplayer so have watched it.

WTF???  Why?

If the premier form of motorsport cannot produce a car that can be driven in the rain, they should all be disqualified from the entire championship.

Utter pointless drivel

i slept in by 2hrs and still managed to catch it all - good race, but i agree they should race in the conditions not sit behind a safety car for over 20 laps unless its so bad it becomes a lottery - and i'm sure i've seen worse conditions  :(

I notice that Hamilton was one of those that pleaded for the safety car to be brought in because he wanted to race, and that's "what the fans wanted".  :y :y

I suppose though that, at the start, had 23 cars piled into each other, there would not have been much of a race to watch!  ;) ;D

If Hamilton said that, then I admire that (though I suspect its more because he thought he could drive better than the rest, rather than 'for the fans' ::)).

These are the world's supposedly best drivers in supposedly the most developed cars.  If they can not start and go around the first corner without total carnage, Spa style around 15yrs ago, then they should pack up and go home.

By pandering to the teams who plead that its too dangerous to race (not just in the wet ;)), the FIA have lost a grip on reality. By forcing them to properly race in those conditions, perhaps those teams may actually produce a car that can drive with a spot of rain.

Once again, the solution appears to be less aerodynamic grip and more mechanical grip ;)

What happened to Bridgestones boast that their tyres were "fully functional in grip" up to 200 miles an hour in driving rain and waterlogged conditions?????

Or are we talking REDUCED VISIBILITY in the rain making driving safely not possible?

F1 seems to have so many twists and turns at the moment, and not just on the track!

I think you are talking about the drivers being gay, and also about the teams controlling the FIA body, rather than FIA controlling the teams.

Absolutely!

I mean.......Ferrari got away with it, and all the other teams appear to be able to "bend" the rules as it suits them, so is the FIA completely toothless, and just a puppet controlling body?

just my opinion, you understand, but surely millions of others must be thinking the same?

Nancy boys .....the lot of them....Fangio and Moss would have laughed at conditions like that.  Whilst racing wheel to wheel at 170 MPH...in a short sleeve shirt.... :y.

What amazes me is why they moan its to danger rous to race in the wet ,why the hell do they go to these places like Korea,Japan and China in the monsoon or typhoon season.Yes I know the answer.....Its all down to money!!!!!!! You never saw the old drivers of the 70 's 80's duck the challenge they just got out and drove wheels of their cars
