Title: Operation
Post by: venom on 26 October 2010, 21:39:08
Had a phone call today from my orthopedic surgeon to tell me that I'm off in on the 20th Jan for what they call a heel shift op (The Calcaneal osteotomy) and was wondering if anyone here has had the same op so I can find out what I'm in for after :(

Here is the op but if your squeamish DO NOT LOOK at the link

You should give up the Goose stepping mate, it's murder on the ankles & heels  ;D

Seriously though, I hope it all goes well for you and it doesn't hurt too much or for too long afterwards. Best of Luck. Regards, Phil  :y

I have a very similar scar on my left foot. Had an Oesteoma (spelling ?) removed from the heel bone about 10 years ago. Which entails removing the bottom of the heel bone, clearing out what is inside, replacing the removed bone, and stitching back together. Mine included one night in hospital.

I found I could still walk by balancing on the front of my foot, but crutches where required for any distance. Not really painful what I had done, and back to normal in 10 days or so as I recall.

All the best for what you are having done.

Most surgical procedures aren't as bad as anticipated V - hope things go well and you're back to full health soon.
