Originally from Scotland, I moved south about 30 years ago. I am a Contract Electronic Engineer, working at various places doing various job. Last big job was the safety case tests on the Electrostar trains, class 375 and 357. Thats real power :y :y :y, each train can take about 2MW under acceleration, so 750V at over 2000A, or 25KV at 80A. You have to remember this when walking across the third rail carrying aluminium equipment boxes. :o :o :o

well I'm from Truro - but we moved from there to Bristol when I was 1 so I don't remember much of it  ;D

Grew up near Bristol, did 2 years of a degree in Newcastle (the proper one where the locals talk funny  ;), back to Bristol, then moved with a job to a few locations and have ended up in Chatham in Kent.

Now working for the local council, running their internal phone systems - I spent about 7 years prior to that working for the company that makes their phone systems which comes in handy  :)

Born and raised in Hoddesdon in Hertfordshire. Moved to Bedfordshire for a few years when first married, then moved back again in 1990. I work as an accounts/admin manager for a small company near Stansted airport that specialises in time & attendance recording and access control systems. Been here for 30 years now :-[ - started as a service installation engineer and kind of worked my way through the Company and somehow ended up in current position.  Also been a mobile DJ for over 30 years but kinda semi-retired as eldest son Greg has taken over, but still dabble a bit and help with the equipment - hence the Omega estate!!

Vocationaly at 17 I started out in the family business repairing Cash Registers then changed jobs to turn my attentions to PCs. Then, a few years later, miraculously I got a job supporting the call routing infrastructure for a Cable & Wireless call centre in Glasgow. I've ducked in and out of a few jobs/contracts since then but now I work for Siemens Enterprise Communications deploying and supporting Genesys contact centre solutions for our clients.

Coincidentally enough, my base office is on the same estate as Mark's DTM's.

For you Guys who live around the Stoke/Stafford area have spent many long weeks over the years frequenting some of your local watering holes whilst staying at that lovely BT establishment called
STONE BTTC.

Those were the days
Brian

My Father in law used to lecture there......he retired from BT when he was head of the network planning group based in Leicester....

Originally from pork pie munching Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire but now living with my, very soon to be wife (wedding this friday!).

I run my own tv aerial and satellite business doing freeview and sky stuff. Been doing it for 9 years now, with various companies, until deciding to do it for myself 18 months ago.

Thats interesting

I was an early DTTV adopter and got a company called CAS involved who were an early DTTV contracter.

Anyway I will have some multi transmitter questions later :)

Short of regional news, what would you gain? Freeview is full of trailer trash across most channels anyway...

Simple really stronger signal off Sutton but it gets wiped out by Emley Moor sometimes, Bromsgrove is weaker but not so often wiped out. Basically a back up signal for dealing with tropospheric ducting.

If I don't get Freeview I don't get TV. my TVs analogue tuner is dreadful, but the digital tuner is excellent, my PVR is Freeview only.

BBC1, 2, 4, News 24 are not trailer trash channels, nor is UK History

That'll be coz its Sony then ;)

Actually, I am apparently fringe, but I get perfect freeview, despite 9 freeview tuners and 10 analogue tuners (inc recording equipment) from 1 aerial, admittedly using consumer distribution systems...

BBC1 and 2 have turned trash, as has News 24.  I agree entirely with Patrick Moore's comments....

UK History is still the Nazi channel - every time I turn it on, its on about the bloody Nazis.

They do occasionally have decent stuff on, esp engineering stuff.

BBC is full of trash programmes like Eastenders and reality shows. And how to lose 27 stone in a week type crap.  BBC News (any channel) is now so dumbed down and biased that it is not authoratitive, and has to be fronted by Miss Plastic Smile who is one right now. Dumb bird.

LOL - my mistake, I'd been watching a recorded program, and forgotten to turn it off. Thought the News sounded familiar. So, quickly deleted that recording so I don't have to watch Natasha 'plastic smile' Kaplinsky

Yes, she tries to act intelligent, but her 2 brain cells had an argument and haven't spoken to each other for years.

Typical of the beeb now, put a pretty bird up front.  Same as ITV did with the footie  >:(
