Looks like I'm orft to collect a car in Bury on Friday and looking for the nearest main line railway station to Bell Lane, Bury. Tried and failed thus far to see whats a preserved line and whats still got national trains on it.
Clue, anyone please??

The preserved line has a station at Bury Bolton Street.
Best bet is probably train to Manchester and Tram to Bury (Andy B will know best)

Looks like Manchester for an overnight as thats where the Premier Inns are. Looks like a couple towards the north of Manchester so if I get one near a tram stop then thats my wee wakeup hurl saturday morning! ;D

Google maps shows Bolton street central in bury, street view confirms, but await mr B....

But I don't think Bruce wants to go by steam :y
You need the Metrolink from either Manchester Piccadilly or Victoria that terminate at Bury. From there you could walk to Bell Lane in 10 minutes. :y :y
This is where you'd get off :y

It used to be one of the main line stations in Bury, but that was many many years ago. As MarksDTM said, that's now home-ish to the East Lancs preservation steam line (and diseasals - hence Marks interest ;)) but you'd far more enjoy The Trackside pub these days.

Victoria seems the furthest north and with a Prem Inn nearby.
Whats the running time on the Metrolink from Victoria to Bury Terminus, please, Andy?
