Title: Insurance Quotes
Post by: rajveer.sandhu on 01 November 2010, 12:54:05
My insurance is due for renewal with Direct Line.
They quoted me £812 for the following:
5k mileage per year (I only do a few thousand per year, Last year I did just 3,700)
My wife on it as a Named Driver
Upto £1k audio equipment cover.

The weird thing was, adding alloys to the premium worth £500 or £1000 would push it up
from £812 to £1,324.
If I added the Irmscher Bodykit to it, it would push it up from £812 to £1,224.

If the car had left the factory with the bodykit on and alloys on, then its classed as standard - therefore the premium would have stayed at £812.

Ive tried confused.com etc. and get the same sort of quote.
However thats without the alloys and bodykit included.

Can anyone recommend a company that covers alloys, bodykits etc. which doesn't costs so much?

Not used them myself for a car, but what about Adrian Flux? It's a long shot but what about going down the route of a kit car for insurance purposes?

Out of interest, what's your age, points/driving history ect to generate a quote like that?

Is £812 very high?
I'm 26, no convictions or offences.
Had licence for 7 years
4 years no claims bonus.

Im 25 with no convictions or points. licence for 8 1/2 years with 2 years no claims (6 1/2 years driving company cars) and i pay £912.00. id say your quote is pretty reasonable at £800.

At last - my advancing years are a bonus  :D I have an Admiral multicar policy for my 2.6 Elite and Volvo S80 2.4, both fully comp with bells, the Volvo has non standard alloys. Also insured is my 23 year old son's clit 1.6SI and my 2.5 Elite both on 3rd party f&th, all for the princely sum of £760. I can drive them all, SWMBO can drive the 2.6 and the S80 and my son the clit. We all have clean licences and no claims. I am happy with the deal  :) :) :)

812 usnt too high for your age and no claims if i'm honest, and adrian flux is one to check out, they're the only company to undercut my premium i paid last year

irmscher bodykit and alloys aren't classed as standard but if it left the factory with them on then they're "optional extras" as opposed to "mods"

Try Sure term through money super market.com they quoted me £500 for my elite with every conceivable extra they listed. although I haven't insure it yet they were the best quote considering my basic mods, lpg, towbar and after market exhaust.
