Title: hugh hendry
Post by: Banjax on 31 October 2010, 11:25:36
i shouldn't like him

he's cocky, arrogant, supercilious, mocking and he's a hedge fund manager - but every time he appears on newsnight, or CNBC i find him fascinating and honest  :y

he popped up on Question Time last week and he's completely refreshing as he doesn't seek approval, he doesn't care what people think of him and is therefore free to tell the truth, however unpalatable - give him a weekly hour long show  :y

if you dont know who he is - search youtube - theres loads of fans  :y

You are correct BJ....he is a total prick ...I can't decide if it's the execrable Jeremy Kyle or this tosser I loathe most.....You should be thrown out of the Scottish communist party for liking such an individual... ;D ;D ;)

Banjax - I see signs of you coming round to "our way of thinking" ::) ;D ;D
I first saw him a few weeks ago doing a long interview - for Hardtalk iirc, also saw him on QT. I found him very impressive indeed. Extremely intelligent, and a complete lack of bull****, which those politicians find impossible to deal with.
When the Labour politician started his old blah blah about bonuses, Hendry reminded him that he also took the political bonus (from the boom) " but you lost and Im still here" - loved it. :y
Make him chancellor I say. :y

He is superb in the area of financial judgement Cem, which to me should be the best credential for the job. And as I said, I like his honest attitude. I find him a very impressive individual altogether. ;)

not a bad shout, Albs -  better than Gideon who's been handed vast riches and understands little about real life  :y

Agreed - although Gideon is always going to be infinitely better than Gormless was. ;)

but Albs....you're forgetting Alistair, Darling  :y :y

We will never know how good or bad he could have been. Gormless was pulling his strings and writing his budget speeches for him. Darling didnt like it very much and would have been replaced asap if they had won another term. His replacement would have been Ed Balls - now that is a seriously scary thought. :o :o

And that was when almost everyone who had made themselves a few bob (rock stars being the most high profile examples) left the country and took their money with them. It doesnt work.
Healey also bankrupted the country, like most other Labour chancellors have done. He reduced this country to the level of an international laughing stock, by having to go cap in hand to the IMF.
No intelligent rational person could ever have a good word to say about any Labour Chancellor. Just read a little bit of your own history.
Talking of the "greedy bankers" the one who I spoke of a few weeks ago is going to be spending Christmas day at a homeless shelter, serving dinners to the homeless. What are you going to be doing on Christmas day  :question ::) ;)

i'll be getting served soup by a banker if the economy tanks  ;D ;D

If our economy tanks it will probably be dragged down by the U.S economy which is looking shaky, largely due to Obama making a pigs ear out of it and everything else he interferes with. ;)

If it comes to that BJ you could try charging your fellow diners 50 bucks to put your face in their soup and blow. :y :D

I've been following his outbursts comments for a while now. Most of the stuff he was saying 12 months ago turned out to be very wide of the mark.

Please enlighten us all with your opinions of this chap Optimist. ::)

Not everyone will fit into the pigeonhole that we would like them to in order to confirm our irrational prejudices. Its a pity really, as if they did we could be constantly filled with that warm glow of smugness. ;)

I have some way to go yet to get near his insensitivity, in reply to some of the things I have said BJ. A feeble excuse imo. ;)

I was simply attempting to demonstrate yet again, that just because someone happens to make a good living in the financial sector it doesnt mean that they will fit into a little pigeon hole of being a heartless, cold hearted bastard who couldnt give a toss about anyone or anything other than themselves and their bank balance. If the link in that post doesnt change the mind of someone with that opinion , then it can only be because they are completely unwilling to have their views changed. Even when presented with facts which render that opinion null and void.
