Title: sunday football
Post by: tidla on 02 November 2010, 23:32:03
the 12 year old plays footie on the sunday.

different team every week, but lately it seems as if no ones happy unless someone has had a barney with someone. whether it be manager/coach/parent/player.

i dont want to go any more.
the kids just want to play footie and im pretty sure they have no option but to absorb and reflect this behaviour? :-?

Nothing new, in the 80's I was a Cub Scout Leader and the district football competition was cancelled because of the behaviour of the parents.... ::) ::) ::)

In the youth games around here, the parents are not allowed to shout or question the ref, for that very reason

what does that mean?

the coach spends half its time on the pitch shouting, which (im no ref) is not in the rules.

clubs should have parent/spectator code of conduct which they all sign up to - did this years ago when involved heavily in football. You need regular club meetings of the managers and work on this aspect. You take your positive ideas from the club to league meetings and try and get thme adopted across the board.

I don't know really, this was explained to me by a friend who coaches kids...I didn't think about what he was saying at the time, but then realised how hard this would be to enforce  ;D ;D

He definitely told me that the parents are not allowed to shout or question the ref though, because games were just descending into aggressive shouting matches between groups of parents which occasionally broke out into mild violence, obviously not what kids should be seeing or aspiring to.

I'll have to ask him exactly what happens
