Toffee ?!?  :-?  Yep, same here too.  Not heard anything refered to as 'Toffee' on the OOF.
Except for a mixture of caramelised sugar, butter and corn syrup.   ;)

Yup, Toffee's because they are as soft as baby poo.  I third that they are a great looking wheel.

yes, nicknamed toffee....

cos irmscher made em out of the stuff...

Fantastic looking wheels, but the chance of finding one actually still round is slim to non existant!  buckle and bend at the slightest bump  :'( :'( :'(

none of the 4 on my old car were round, one took 9 goes at being balanced to get it ok!

hers are still good....but they were the last UK stock, replaced a few years ago  :D

Toffee is being too kind to them.  Lovely looking wheels, but impossible to live with. I had 9 of them, all distorted. One I buckled with a simple, albeit extreme, understeer moment, even though I didn't hit/kerb anything.

Gave up with them, now have facelift MV6 wheels on my prefacelift MV6

...............clearly been said already.........

Why Irmscher should choose to make that particular wheel out of such a rubbish material I've no idea..........

Toffee; egg-box cardboard; paper-mache; wire wool; plasticine - think of a malleable material that is unsuitable for using as an Alloy wheel and you've got the idea...............

All style and no substance.

The 19" VXR is a lovely looking wheel that tends to get rather cracked...........

GM/Vaux do like to make a wheel that has its flaws it would seem, although not too many I hope.

Any other manufacturers make dodgy Alloys that people can recall.................?

..............of course, there's a lovely example of the very wheel (at speed looking shiny and new) in my avatar. 8-)

............Rolling road is about the best place for 'em! ::)

They were off the car less than a year after the pic was taken......... ;D

I thought BMW used toffee wheels-they buckle from the weight of the car ;D
Whats the point of having good looking wheels if the buckle easily - The roads by me just lately look like the moon-craters all over the place.

its scary s**t !!! :o :o i had a set of old opel 5 spoke style alloys on my manta years ago, they were that soft the hard inserts that the bolts tighten up to inside the alloy came free and the wheel fell off leaving the four studs/sleeves on the hub  ;D ;D ;D luckily i was only doing 20mph and something didnt feel right  :o :-/ :D

Toyota had a run of wheels in the early 00's that were pretty bad - the paint comes off them within a couple of years as water gets under the laquer where the inside edge of the spokes are.. rubbish finish - although at least they stay straight :)

Many of you are wrongly assuming that car manufacturers design and make alloy wheels.....

Obviously i know what the wheels are but did'nt get the toffee reference. I do now. I know they're the best looking wheel for any pre or mini facelift Mig. Jammy so & so that i am i've got two good sets & remember the jibes at weekend meets about me waking up to find the Beastie on blocks!!! Glad that was only a joke as i guarantee if those wheels were at stake i'd be the last one standing!
Shame Irmy did'nt make them properly as they are the proverbial danglies!!!! 8-) :y

Beat you to that one TB - did that in 2001. @ the time the Irmscher wheels were about £200 each and the Facelift MV6 wheels less than £100. I did that to a car that was only 3 years old @ the time so I'm amazed that tere are any left that are actually round anymore

BMW, though they will always blame on someone else (potholes etc).  But BMW owners are like Sony owners and gayPhone owners - too stupid/loyal to accept anything bad about the product they have been conned into buying....

They make very little, and design not much more if we're honest.

However, if they are offered as a factory fit item or as an official accessory, the manufacturer should be taking the blame!
