Title: Motorhead.
Post by: Amigo on 03 November 2010, 20:22:16
Usually only known for their title track & Ace of spades, this one is sadly overlooked.

I've listened to Motorhead for many many years, find their music a bit dated now but still enjoy them in the car on the motorway. My music taste is a little more eclectic these days though.

M I saw that advert too, he doesn't look bad considering he turns 65 in December and all the substances that have passed through him. [history lesson] He's originally from Burslem in the Stoke Massive, real name Ian Willis (formerly Kilmeister) and moved to Anglesea aged 10 [/history lesson] :y

Some good songs, some not so good.

Full of energy though.

I think I even saw them live (does some research)

Yes Donningon 1986 with Ozzy and the most professional band I have ever seen - Scorpions, and Def Leppard were amazing.

Motorhead were not a noise as people think they were actually quite tunefull

I saw it too I think - was it for a beer?

What impressed me was the version they did of Ace of Spades.  It was really, really good, wonderful bluegrass feel and a great re-take on the original.

> that was a good Donnington, I remember the two WWII planes flying during their set.
>Lemmy got very pissed off at the bottle throwing that year - the same year that 'Bad News' played wasn't it?

>I thought Ozzy was much better in 1984 when he overran by 45 minutes!

>Alice Cooper's road crew played them on the PA at the RoundHouse after the show on Monday night. Never been there before - good venue!

Any other metalheads on OOF?

Nothing like their strongest stuff - I think 'No Sleep 'til...................' takes a lot of beating as monument to the Band.

I think I have seen Ozzy twice so 1984 seems likely - I do remember a great OO gig though

I seem to remember he descended onto the stage in a big cradle - like for most of the 'Ultimate Sin' tour that year.

I stayed in Donnington that year to avoid the tortuous wait at the station and night bus home from Central London.

It's got all serious now - 3 day job - Download? Festival. Glad I was there though.
Ah, the dear dead days............  ::) :y
