Title: Worried for my friend.......
Post by: Debs. on 02 November 2010, 16:50:56

<--------------"Tegwen"

This lovely girl is having surgery tomorrow morning; she has Pyometra (an infected womb) and will have all the infected bits taken out.
She`s nearly twelve now and she`s my best mate (yes, it`s 'sad'; I know :-[)......I hope she`ll be ok.

Say a prayer for her. :-*

We get attached to our pets (even if I want to stick my big toe right up the cats jacksie - she won't shut up at the moment, and keeps clawing my leg).

I hope Tegwen's op for 'womens problems' goes well. And remember, she'll need fillet and fresh fish for proper recoperation ;D

I'm sure your butcher has a class a marrow bone on hold. I'm a son of a.....Vet! so she has big love & wishes with her up & down the country by the look of things.
Nothing at all sad about the best friend thing, no need to repeat the loss of my little spaniel all those years ago. No need to tell you that often animals make better friends than people.

Thoughts & wishes with you both, Guy.

where is the dog is it at the vets on fluids?

or at home with you ?

if dog is still at home keep a very close eye on it
dont leav it

if she gets more un well get to a emergencey vet fast

a dog with Pyometra can go down hill very fast in a mater of hours

iv neally lost two dogs to it

my rotty had it last year stupid vet thort it could wait to morning and wouldent do it that night

and had to get her to another vet

luckyly she is very stroung and large so survived

all the best and fingers crosses as i know what it like

Thank you so much for the good wishes, everyone! :-*

I dropped her off at the Vet`s in Ruthin at 08.30 this morning........

.......it`s now 2 hours later and I`m already really not-enjoying the waiting for the call to say she`s had the surgery and is ok. :'(

Have bought some of her favourite food-treats (ground-beef and plain-yogurt) to tempt her appetite when she comes home. ;)

Ok, she`s home (minus her troublesome lady-bits).....she walked out from the Vets like nothing had happened; I can`t say I`d feel like walking anywhere if I`d had major abdominal surgery! ;)

She`s presently sleeping quietly on the couch but may 'lower herself' to eat some ground beef later......that`s before I peel her a grape! ;D

What a day......what a relief! :y

that great news they are normaly fine as long as op is done in time  and recover fast

she be fine now

im glad shes ok

my rotty was fairly young when she had it 5 years
but my lab that had was 12 like yours she was very touch and go with neally dident make it

luckly with rotty id seen it before and knew what it was strait away

re grapes id be very carful with them  some dogs they do nothing to

other times  they can cause acute renal failer in dogs

what debs dog had is very comon in bitchs that have not had a liter or been spayed

its worth knowing the symtoms if you got a bitch
as they wont normaly survie more that 24 hours without being operated on

as it can hapen in hours they normally look prity unwell
often have a nasty discharge from down there

as they get worse they will get very week and till there legs give out

if not operated on in time it will be fatal

Well, Tegwen is doing great today after a good night`s sleep and is now holding court on the sitting-room couch. :y

I think she`s now forgiven me for leaving her at the Vet`s for surgery, yesterday......but, doubtless I`ll be made to pay (in some way) later; as soon as she`s back to her usual "50% too clever", scheming and manipulative-ways! ;D
