Title: ronnie project 2007/2 update again
Post by: Ronald_McBurger on 10 May 2007, 11:52:02
Today fitted the replacement exhaust system and passenger side Cat. What a difference!!! Full power restored. Problem area is the centre section to cat joint that just won't seal. Crap design and may need some modding. Had to drill out one bolt first then used a nut and bolt on that side.

Other matters? The hiss was from the totally fubared air injection rubber joints, both split to heck. Replaced with some old radiator hose for now, but will source the right ones later.

Wishbones may need doing. car does seem a little vague.

Tappets still noisey (ish) and afetr the run at tickover oil pressure light is coming on which would explain it. Spoke with Mark last night and it would seem the oil pressure relief valve may be stuck. Means stripping back to cambelt again to access the sodding thing and also means a new TX bit set for me again!

Gearbox is fine, power is there and car goes ok. Still some work to do yet and some more spending :( but car will be good when done soon.

One other thought....its had running issues......the top end is very clean.....the oil is clear.......have you changed the oil yet...

It might have had some bore wash and got neat fuel into the oil, this would thin it out and cause low oil pressure....would clean the internals nicely to...

oil change tomorrow anyway. running some flush through it first for 10 minutes, then new oil and filter. then 100 miles and another oil/filter change.
