Post by: Richie London on 05 November 2010, 08:29:57
tried this new pizza place last night. now i always have the hot one but this, jesus christ. i drank 5 cans of lager in just over half hr and i had to visit the toilet 3 times in the night. slept on a towel and had to flip 4 pillows cause they were soaked with sweat. was that sore in the night i had to sit in ice cold water for 10 mins. that shop is now blacklisted  :( :( :(  ;D ;D ;D

I love spicy food too but unfortunately after a bout of bali belly it don't like me and until the chilli's out of my system my stoumach does somersaults, i always swear never again but the spice always gets me! but i agree that there is a high possibility that this was food poisoning, definately the symptons were there, saying that chilli is a poison to us but the reactions vary depending on your threshold either way i geuss it's the end of the road for you and that place!! :)

True story:
about 2 years ago (christmas time) I started having a massive craving for hot foods - ridiculously spicey, like eating a pack of green thai birdseye chillies like grapes, and
following up with a couple of scotch bonnets.

Come easter time, (Monday) I suddenly start having *seriously* bad pain in my stomach.
Goes to hospital tuesday morning.
Booked in for immediate appendectomy.
Tuesday afternoon, big smash on motorway - all theatres in use.
Tues night/wednesday morning my appendix exploded.
Weds NIGHT finally goes for surgery - two hours cleaning out the remains of my appendix (with a shovel, judging by the size of the scar).

Thursday - post op visit from surgeon, only comment I remember "My eyes were stinging because of the amount of chillies in your bowel, but it probably saved your life by killing the infection".

The craving for chillies has gone, but I still can't taste much unless it's highly spiced.

Yoghurt's good, too. If eating it doesn't work, sit in it. :y

In some folk chilli releases a pheremone. If cooking curry (Indian Mrs Dundee has the Thai well & truly sewn up by a country mile, had a couple of goes at the panang though...passable!) i'll only add a sprinkle of chilli powder to the pot. If it's for me half a bag of birds eye chillies go into the blender with the sauce & the other half are sliced lengthways & slung in the pan so i get the odd "crunch" when eating, Yum!!! :D
