usually you would say that something like this is freak accident, but not so..
on the motorways bridge pillars are reinforced with concrete walls to prevent a truck strike from bringing down the bridge.
with the possibilty of great loss of life that could have occured, surely network rail need to reconsider what is appropriate bridge protection?
