Title: A personal tribute on this day.
Post by: Dishevelled Den on 11 November 2010, 10:59:04
At this hour, on this day, in this month I remember with humility all those fine men and women with whom I had the privilege and honour of serving during some very dangerous and uncertain times:

To those who are no longer present;

To those who still suffer as a result of their service;

To those families who have been denied the comfort of their loved ones;

To those who care for we who remain;

I give thanks and offer prayer.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years contemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

work in a supermarket and we always stand in silence as a mark of respect and all work-inc checkouts-is rightly suspended. Majority of customers also stop and respect the custom-even those with small children, but without fail there are always the few who continue to shop and not in a muted way either. This, I am convinced, is not a thought out breach of the custom but either ignorance or flagrant disrespect to those who fought.  >:(

I was driving but the radio went quiet. These guys & girls sign up & go wherever they're sent & do whatever they have to do whether they believe in it or not..they do it regardless out of a sense of duty.

As a school leaver me & two mates applied to join the army as junior soldiers. They got in & i did'nt due to my school report. We were all 16. No names or pack drill but they both died two years later. What a waste.

At the time I remember those that I was with years ago in a hostile place that didn't come back............................I can still see their faces........ It doesn't go away.

RIP  friends, you will never get old like me, or suffer cold or arthritis, and you will never be forgotten either.
