Coz ive had em removed ::) from my VeccyB
Garage said fine to drive without....but no hard cornering.....summat to do with anti roll bar.....but i didnt really understand :-/
Got new ones coming in the morning.....had to order them.
On the upside the clonking noise when going over bumps has disapeared :y
And the old ones were in a right state! the rubber gaiters were split and you could move the threaded ball joint bit in just about every direction you wanted.

What!!!! Now I'm not sure exactly what drop links do BUT, if you have a bad accident in your cab, I dont think the other party's insurance would be too happy :o

THey connect the wheels to the anti roll bars, do not swerve the car :(

If car is involved in an accident, not even your fault, then BiB will have your guts for garters if spotted...... :'(
As will any passengers..... 'Where theres blame, theres a claim' remember and, as you the owner is fully aware of what you have done, you could end up Rogered more times than an air traffic controller...... :-X

Absolutely......my thoughts are
a) Its better to have some goosed ones fitted than none at all.
b) The garage is negligent in having removed them when they have no replacements to fit....
The trouble is that you are now driving around with a working antiroll bar or torsion beam on the rear (dependent on year and model) and none on the front.....this is going to upset the handling and possibly the braking to.....

No not really......coz the car's not being used for Taxi'ing tonight.....drivers not well!....poor excuse! ;D
Just I drove it home....as garage said it would be ok (dont go mad tho) and couldnt tell any difference....tho i didnt go above 30mph.
But i still dont understand what they do.....if someone can explain in 'idiot' terms please. :y
Mixup at the garage....led to them being taken off without replacements.
Mechanic asked the receptionist to phone an get some delivered.....and as the vectra was up on the ramps he carried on and took the old ones off......she forgot to tell him they were outa stock when she phoned up.....hence none got delivered :(

Links do what it says on the tin!!! when you turn left (with them on) the car naturally will lean to the right, so the right side link pushes down on the end of the antirollbar,this downforce is transferred through the antirollbar which then pushes down on the left hand side to keep the car from rolling to far!!
thus the name antirollbar

Number one rule of a good mechanic, you dont remove a part for replacement unless the replacement is in your hand.......the daft bugger, he should know better.
Basicaly, the anti roll bars do excatly what the name says.....so if you drive through a left hand bend the front right will naturally start to dive and compress the front right spring, in reponse the rear left will satrt to rise...
The anit roll bar limits this movement by linking the two wheels on the axle so as the front right dives, the motion is passed through the anti roll bar and linked to the front left, it results in the front left spring compressing also....although not as much.....the drop links connect each end of the antiroll bar to the hub assembly either via the wishbone/tie rod or strutt on vauxhalls.

Usually the setup works in garage......its a very busy one....if you stand and watch....parts get delivered to it sometimes every 20 mins or so....ive even seen delivery parts vans queing to get into the yard!
So i guess the mechanic thought he was saving time by taking the old ones off....expecting the new ones to be delivered in 20 mins or so....
