I just saw the pics of he new London bus on the BBC website and thought it looked very nice, bit cutesy and friendly and nostalgic but quite modern at the same time.
I don't go darn the smoke much these days but I think they'll be a great feature of the capital and a fitting tribute to the iconic Routemaster.

Nice looking bus but I can't see Sir Cliff doing a sequel in one ;D ;D
-
hop on and hop off will lead to law suits, this is 2010 not 1970. might even fall off one myself to get a few quid off transport for london. ;)
-
yes shame about the lawsuits but i geuss it's the world we live in, i like it thank god these may put an end to the shitty bendy buses
-
Reminds me of the old routemaster as well, good to see stairs again, now bring back the miniskirt.. :-[
-
Looks puddled at the front. give it a few months and it wil be trashed ;D

we used to jump off when we were young but you dont realise how fast the bus is going even though its slowing down, a few times ive jumped off and my legs overtook my body sending me flipping through the air. kids eh!! ;D ;D

its been in the pipeline for years now, I like it. Sooner they get rid of those bendy buses the better!

;D ;D Same here Richie - on more than one occasion and, on more than one occasion, landed on my arse for the privilege.
Well done to Boris. 8-) :y :y (Hopefully)

THREE sets of doors???????????????
Lovin' the "traditional" rear hop off with the brass pole though........................................

THREE sets of doors???????????????
Lovin' the "traditional" rear hop off with the brass pole though........................................
Needed 3 to match Bendy Bus, while they are hated, 3 huge doors allows them to fill up very quickly, and unload. Something standard doubleD's struggle with.
Sadly the hop on/off feature is the best bit, but i can't see it being allowed . It will be a case of when not if someone falls off back and goes under a truck. The H&S bods will not allow it...
There is also a more fundamental issue, which is likey to mean project never really gets off the ground.... money!
Standard London Bus contracts are 5 years, at the end of which they are sold off, these BorisMasters will have zero value, as no one outside London will want them, much cheaper alternatives out there.
So option B is to run them for 25 years, but then will they last that long? What about the current system for all other busses? :-/
Because only London will buy them, they are going to be super expensive, i think its going to be a novelty for the Olympic routes, but then the project will be for the scrapper...

Nice pictures and I like the look. Not sure now many passengers it will seat?
Oh! and the hop-on-hop-off platform is designed to take doors so it can operate with or without a conductor. But they don't mention that.

They have sacrificed seating for access as there are 2 stair cases front and rear.
