I loved the MP who worried the food was overpriced....is that because he now actually pays for it out of his own pocket as opposed to sending us the bill? overpriced=not free anymore ;D ;D :y

I hardly dare say it but assuming there is a need for a "food taster" then his rate of £500 a day is actually quite good. First of all there are no pensions, accommodation etc cost, secondly you dispense with the guy as soon as you are done. The article doesn't actually say how many days are going to be paid in true whip up the masses Daily Mail style nor what his actual brief is.  Six years ago, £600 a day was the norm for consultants in my field. They got paid that for the day(s) you actually were on site. You didn't get paid travelling costs, accommodation or the work done at home either side of the assignment.

More interesting might be the programme on mid evening tonight about how the EU spends our billions. I have already taken some blood pressure tablets in readiness. If you are intending watching it Nick perhaps you need to get a supply in.  ;D ;D ;D

No, Varche, I shan't watch as I cannot afford a new TV.  ;) ;D ;D

By the way, I see the EU is spending £850 million of taxpayers' money constructing a new HQ for translators and lawyers.  ::)  ::) >:( >:(

Dave has taken on 26 new advisors and helpers in the last 6 months, many of them are old friends of him and Mrs Dave, and include his own personal official photographer - prepare for (yet more) government by gimmick.
If you are one of those people who still has some faith in our major political parties, or are slightly less than totally cynical about them, may I recommend you spend your christms holiday watching the box set of the utterly brilliant political comedy drama series - The Thick of it. Apart from being the funniest thing I have seen in many years - due to Peter Capaldi,s portrayal of the Alistair Cambell inspired spin doctor - the script advisor for the series was Martin Sixsmith. He was a very senior civil servant who was hung out to dry by Liebore,so we can assume that it has some basis in the reality of what goes on behind the scenes.

"I,ll use your rather kidneys for cufflinks son" , an absolute classic programme. People will be talking about it years into the future imo. :y
I have every episode, apart from the dodgy dossier special, on my laptop. I think I should know the scripts of by heart by Christmas. :)
