wonder if we will get a public holiday out of it :-/
-
The very best of luck to both of them :y
As for an extra days holiday, I very much doubt it.
-
<<sigh>> will have to dig out the top hat again !!!! ::)

Soon to be one more,on the royal gravy train then.
-
I can't believe so many people have such a downer on the royals. most of the male royals have served there country.
Yes it costs a bit to keep them, but would any of you like to live their life ? anything and everything you do under scrutiny from someone and you cannot answer back.
I would not like there positions.
-
i'd do it, i think the pay and perks compensate for the inconveniences :y
i'm not down on the royals fair play to them - i wish the happy couple all the best ;)
-
I say congatulations to them and we all can look forward to a romantic wedding that any girl would love!! :-* :-* :-* 8-) 8-) 8-)
On the commercial front this should bring into the country a good deal of cash from tourism. Us peasants may also get a Bank Holiday, although I realise that doesn't help the self employed :'( :'( But as the ex-Sex Pistol on the English butter advert says "it is your career choice! :D :D :D :D ;) ;) ;)
-
Think of the alternative to a Royal family
President Blair? :o :o :o :o

that aside, at the wedding of chaz and di we saw a congregation of statesmen and foreign rulers. who will be at this one?
davina mcall and jason manford probably. hahahahah!
and how long before the daily mail announces the commemorative dining plates? sheesh...
-
actually, just browsing Wiki.....her parents made a fortune from their mail order company selling party supplies and decorations.......wonder if they're the preferred bidder on the contract for the nuptials? ;D

Im surprised this hasnt been on the news. :-/

The best part will be, if a Bank Holiday is declared, all the non loyalists will demand to work.

;D
..and when told they aren't allowed to work they'll have to hide somewhere to avoid being any part of it.. somewhere like the bottom of a bottle. ;)

Good luck to them. Wills seems a decent enough bloke. It may just save Britain from a double dip recession and take the peasants mind off loss of services, bankers bloody bonuses and food price inflation..
I did however object to Charles and Camilla in writing to the Queen and the Archbishop of Canterbury. I dare say I will be beheaded if I ever go back to the UK.

Long live our monarchy, and our great nation

It's really started, hasn't it? Prince Gormless and his commoner bint all afternoon on the telly. Glad I've got sky, there's always the Chinese news channel. ;D

Well I hope she doesn't go the way of Diana. They cancelled the Newcastle v Liverpool game that saturday. :(
-
Did David Cameron just say excitedly that he queued overnight on The Mall to watch the Charles and Di wedding?
That was normal behaviour for a 16 year old in Londinium in the 80's was it?
What a strange fellow - I think he's let slip something which everyone on here finds odd and would hide.....he obviously thinks its perfectly normal :o :o :o

What a marvellous, dignified and reliable national-figurehead our Queen Elisabeth II has been; her lifetime of service to her role is to be admired and appreciated. :y
.....but, as for the rest of the family and the extended hanger`s-on; decency prevents me from commenting! ::)

Time to invest in Madame La Guillotine's services maybe? It worked for the Surrender monkeys.

If they did'nt want the media hype, the pomp & ceremony & only wanted to get married because they love eachother then they would have done so quietly & announced it afterwards. The hand wringing members of the population could buy the mugs (no pun intended), plates & tea towels & not have to stump up for thier frivolities.
Millions of people are really excited by this. The other 90% of us really could'nt care less. ::)
-
Yes, it's frustrating that it's been such a quiet news day that there has been little other than the Royal Wedding but...
... Much against the (apparent) majority here, I have a lot of respect for Wills... He serves the country (as have/do all the males) in a vital role. Search and Rescue may well save your life one day! Sunday he payed a surprise visit to Camp Bastion for the service, a huge morale booster for the troops in such troubled times.
Harry (not my favourite Royal) even saw active duty for a short time, until someone let slip that he was there ::)
As for the hangers on... Zara Phillips and the likes. All families have them :-X ::)

Sorry Guy (and guys and girls) but although the Royals do get a huge sum of the Taxpayers money they:
a) Pay out a huge sum in maintenance of the buildings in their possession, which are of national importance as they generate huge revenue in the surrounding areas from tourism
b) Actually work very hard
c) Are quite human if/when you meet them... Even the Queen herself :y

Agreed... And you can guarantee that Di will be brought up all over again ::) FFS, she's dead... Get over it!
It will be a huge morale booster for the majority of the country though, especially if we get an extra public holiday :y :y

Yes, it was a terrible shame and perhaps there is a conspiracy behind it but let it go ;)
The day of the funeral was a good day to be on the road though... I was moving all my Mum's stuff as she was changing house :y :y

I hope, for her sake, that Kate is allowed to become whatever she does, and not expected to be another Di, after all, that is Will's job, in a round about way... :)
I can hardly believe I am even debating this subject :o :o :o just been chatting to swmbo about it... ::) ::)

This made me laugh http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-11771915 and this bit is hilarious "She said: "Of course it should be an event for the whole nation to celebrate, but ordinary taxpayers should not be left with a bill fit for a king."
I mean what is this person trying to say, the people want to see it, but someone else should pay. I wonder if that would happen for other events like football or F1 etc.
