On holidays in India recently, I saw a sign that said : English speaking Taxi driver.
I thought, now thats a f**kin' good idea, why don’t we have them in our country?

;D
Good news dbug,
A lot of local authorities are requiring taxi drivers to complete nvq courses in order to be taxi drivers.
These courses include assessments in spoken and written english, and numeracy. :y
Better still, if either aren't up to scratch, then extra courses are available to help people reach the required standard. :y
Sadly these courses may be short of volunteers as the government is broke(n), and people will have to pay to do the courses. :-X

And call centre operatives!

.....and potential car buyers. I have a car on autotrader at the moment and have had a lot of phone calls about it. All but one have been from members of the Asian community. I really struggle to make out what they are saying. It usually eventually boils down to them explaining that it is an old car so it is only worth half the asking price, "I am coming tonight and bringing cash to buy it from you for £half the asking price". "No your not, bye". ::)

Yep, been there. And they will phone every single day, not break off until you tell them it's sold. >:(
