Title: general question
Post by: TOOL on 12 May 2007, 07:21:09
decided to give the meega a service,so undid the oil filler cap and to my horror found a thick white gunk all around the top :o
first thoughts .....opps me the head gaskets gone....then realised I hadn't lost any water :-/and hadn't topped up for a couple of months
so obvious Question where the hell is it coming from????
If this topic has come up before please post a link..cos I couldn't find it
thanks TOOL 8-)

its reasonably normal and wont be head(s)

Particularly in winter and especially if your omega is doing short joureys there is usually a build up of condensation which then mixes with the water ( water and oil) meaning mayo forms.

Solutions are tto do exactly what your doing - oil change and then, clean with a rag the mayo you can see and then give it a decent 50 odd mile run  :y

Nothing to worry about. ;)

It'd be worth checking your breathers are clear if you haven't done so recently. It could just be the first signs that the engine isn't breathing as well as it should, although mayo does seem to form on cars that have been used for short trips regardless.
