Title: Ashford Snow is here!
Post by: Lizzie_Zoom on 30 November 2010, 10:44:03
Well we were getting a bit jealous down here that we had no snow, so I phoned the Snow Department and complained. They took notice of me, and from last night it has been snowing!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Right now it is snowing hard and these pictures, which are not unfortunatly of rolling white countryside but roof tops prove it:

Hmmmm! 2 inches, 'jealous'.. :-[ We got about an inch here in sunny Bedford, and as usual the roads were chaotic. Well actually the roads weren't, but the drivers are. Somehow God ordained that 'ALL' of the world's worst drivers should live in Bedford...  :-/

I know, what a joke Del! :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

Believe it or not though I have just seen a full sized gritter lorry of the type you see on main roads actually gritting the very local roads around our houses, even coming into the the communal road for our blocks of flats!! :o :o :o :o

Full marks to Kent County Council :y :y :y

I had fun today..

Last night when it was pitch black, I had tyre blow out a few hundred yards from home.  And with no where to pull over due to the thick snow and it being so dark, I decided to nurse the car home.  Left it till today to change the wheel in the snow:

New sodding tyre too!

And here's a picture of mums car to gauge the amount of snow we've had:

Crikey that's an impressive blowout! The tyre looks more like a pretzel than a tyre..

Long time since I've seen a car tyre that bad! :o :o :o :o

I would check your other tyres as well, because there appears to be a hole well up on the blown tyre's wall which seems like a weakness deciding to go :o :o ;)  What was the quality level of this tyre? :-/

Actually a very good tyre and have done well in Evo tests etc..  I've ordered a replacement tyre of the same type for fitting tomorrow.

The holes may be due to me having to drive 'on the tyre' for the last few hundred metres in thick snow, as I had nowhere to pull over and it was pitch black at night.

The tyre pressures were fine on the rest.

Ah that's alright then :) My road gets a bit interesting when it snows - very light traffic down the top end of the road leading to mine (as it's a dead end) and only 10 houses down my road, at least one of whom is retired and doesn't drive.. in Feb I ended up trying to use the front of the MR2 as a snow plough as I turned into my road ;D

Didn't work too well..
