As expected, Russia won the right to host the 2018 World Cup. Even more expected is that we didn't get it. ::) Oh well, won't see it in England again in my lifetime! :'(
-
yep stitched up again on the news they said we could be in for a chance in around 20 years :'( :'(
-
I think that we should protest against this decision by rufusing to have any coverage of any future world cup tournaments in the British media. :y :y :y :y ::) ::) ::) :D :D ;D ;D ;D

Putin obviously knew yesterday so its a load of 'dangle berries' as usual.I would have liked to see the World Cup over here as,without a doubt, we have by far the best facilities.Wembley,Emirates,Olympic Stadium,Old Trafford,Sunderland,Cardiff,Villa Park,The New Den,the list could go on and on.Russia is still a third world country thats gone broke and has a few wmd's hidden away in dodgy cellars in dodgy 'tangent' countrys.
But what the hell,i'd rather spend a weekend in Moscow than Sunderland.

And we got some Welsh bloke up front for us at the moment and it dont get much more foreign than that does it ?
-
As it happens i wouldnt mind a Russian bride, though i wouldnt want to marry her really.
Turns out England only got one vote out of twenty two,so whats that all about ?
Its all a stitch up,nothing to do with football. Its about who can entertain the ladies best,ie as in the old blokes go get bladdered and entertained at the matches and their wives go shopping for nice stuff.
-
So, sour grapes aside, does this stink to high heaven? Or not?

Me too. I wouldn't care if they never held it here again.

I am really pleased with this decision. Why should our government be allowed to spend our money lining the pockets of the fiddlers of FIFA? It's a very dirty game and I think we are better off without it.
In fact, we would be better off not having to deal with the fiddlers of the EU or the mafia of Russia also, but you can't have it all.
-
Oh.....and if you think the Indian Commonwealth games was a fiasco............ ;D

.....and nobody's asking you football haters to like it either!! I'm sure you guys love something that we hate. ::) It's not what this thread was about. >:(

So, sour grapes aside, does this stink to high heaven? Or not?
I've no axe to grind, I'm not English so looking at it impartially the England bid was far and away the best technical bid yet apparently only 3 or 4 delegates actually even bothered to read the report!! In a 4 horse race for the best bid to recieve only 2 votes out of 22-and one of them was from their own guy........hmmmm, I don't buy it.
If a bid that good gets only 2 votes(and one of them was from England itself), theres little point in ever applying unless Fifa radically changes its voting system.
Oh and a final point, I hear Sepp Blatter "reminded" the delegates of the "evil media" (ie the free british press) before they voted......i'm sure now that Blatter has avoided giving England the World Cup, our press will leave all those honest, hardworking Fifa delegates alone ::) ;D
the whole thing stinks, and for that reason, to show support for our neighbours, Scotland will refuse to qualify for any future World Cups, a plan they put in place over 10years ago ;D ;)

England didn't bother working that one out....but The Netherlands did. Net loss.

Russia is still a huge state with a pretty shambolic infrastructure and big hooligan problem and corrupt to the core.I can see all them fans and players flying around in those old twin prop Aeroflot Dakota's.Sepp Blatter will offcourse have a nice private jet and a few of them sexy Russian prossies to keep him company.
Qater is just a pile of sand about the size of Yorkshire, isn't it ?
Always wanted to go to St Petersburg though which is supposed to be really nice,so if there's any games in that vicinity i may just have a sniff.
