Title: railways grinding to a hault
Post by: hoofing it on 03 December 2010, 20:24:52
Back in the 80's when real traction (class 25,26,27,37,47,etc) was pulling mrk1-3's coaches they were unstopable now with new modern traction a wee bit snow and the units chuck it.
Lets see some old traction digging the country out and earning some dosh for the preservations.
I can mind watching a 101 dmu arriving at stirling from dunblane caked in snow and going to glasgow with no problem.

ws that back in the day when train journeys were actually enjoyable?  can barely remember those times.

Last time snow was this bad I was on a train to Devon. left Gloucester towed by a 37 on three traction motors to Cheltenham (other 3 snow filled), then the 50 on the back became the train loco.

Absolutely shot off that train. 50,017 Royal Oak, I think it was the best run I ever had with a 50.

They should give up with all forms of public transport. It doesn't work, it never will. Stop wasting valuable resources on it.

Someone I used to know who owned part of preserved 50,021, his local was Royal Oak so he loaned them a big picture of 50,017.

He sold a rally car to buy a share
