Am not too bad, just realised I was in hospital this time last and propably argueing with the physio who was a complete arse.  They wouldnt help me get back on my feet properly after keeping me bed bound for 2/3 weeks.

Not as good as I was a few years back but then I am still alive so cant complain.   :y

What tossers.

Seems people arriving after her were being put through before her.  She complained at the desk/reception 3 times and then the receptionist suddenly said the consultant wanted to see her?  but she hadnt been seen by a doctor 1st.

They then assesed her, sent her for an xray, nothing broken but now swollen twice the size of last night, doc told her to get dressed and just walked away.  She had to then go find someone to find out what happened next.

I know they are busy etc, but a little bit of help and advice rather than just ignoring people would go along way.

Result is her knee banaged up, ibuprofen and a week off work.

I agree with you there , The NHS is not as good as they use to be and they don't care about any one in there care, The NHS stinks at times >:( :(

My Father collapsed on Boxing in 1983, doc came out told him to rest.  His mood was good, he was happy, not been drinking but all his bosy went lethargic.

Finally admitted him to hospital, specialist put him on traction, took a few turns for the worst and ahd a couple of visits into ICU then back to the ward.

Finally ended up in ICU again, was talking fine with him, but he just had no body movent, lost loads of wight as they were feeding him by IV

Last 2 days he was aided to breath as he got weaker, he finally gave up on friday 13th as he had no strength.

What pisses us all off is that we didnt know the labs were shut over christmas and new year

My Dad had a blood dissorder called polyneuritis which may have been easily detected if the labs were open.

guillain barre syndrome is the other name it's known by allthough there are variants of it.

Yet my Mum was playing silly buggers trying to pull a tree stump out, the rope snapped and the landed on her lower back craking her coccyx, went to see the doc, who sent her for xrays.

Cracked coccyx seen straight away but sadlt also riddled with bone cancer.

We tried to get her into private but doc said she would be treated as well with NHS, they were actually great and proved to us that depending on the the illness they could pull thier finger out and get on with it.

The best thing you can do is follow RICE:

Rest - put as little weight as possible on it
Ice - ice packs if you have them if not good old peas or those ice cube bags are good too.  Ice for 15 continuous minutes every hour, it's painful but it works.
Compression - when not icing wrap the bad knee in a wide crepe bandage or a compression sock (available at any Pharmy)
Elevation - once dressed lie flat and raise the affected leg.

In addition - every hour for 5 mins does some simple exercises, bring the knee up to the chest and then straighten up.  Turn your ankle left to right with the toes pointing up as much as you can without discomfort.

If you do nothing you will find that scar tissue may form and cause more problems.  These will reduce the likelyhood to require physio treatment in the future.  :y
