Title: Puzzling piece of legislation
Post by: Mysteryman on 06 December 2010, 18:26:34
A week or so ago, the chinless wonder Cameron said that a list was going to be published. The list would contain all teachers' salaries and the amount of days off due to illness they had taken in the last year.
The wife, (who is a headteacher and earns..... ), came home tonight and told me that a new piece of legislation, the equality act 2010, forbids prospective employers from asking for any medical information or details of abscence prior to appointment of a teacher. That means either on the application form or at interview.

I'm confused.com. Or is Mr Cameroon confused.com? ;D

More govt. by gimmick and soundbite. A great lack of joined up thinking. :(

Agreed. Just a headline-grabbing gimmick rather than useful legislation. Now, who has he learnt that trick from? ::) Why should I have the right to know what another person is earning or how many days sick they have?

If the system was being competently managed the results would speak for themselves. ;)
