an old red telephone box
I would like to get my hands on one preferably one in poor shape and needing some TLC.
Anyone got any ideas where ? I imagine they all get scrapped when they get replaced with the new type
Anyone know?

I don`t think they get scrapped; I remember seeing a couple at architectural salvage yards (IIRC @ £500.-£800); I know of one box `round here, being used as a garden tool-store....but being cast iron, they are really heavy and (a bit like an iceberg) much taller when not 'planted' in-situ as there`s 30% of the full height normally in the ground. ;)

i grew up near the Lion Foundry in Kirkintilloch where they made them all as well as Post Boxes among other things - it's long gone now, sadly :(

Got three or four at the heritage centre, one is being re-furbed at the mo.
The glass is pricey though!
