Took a car in today to the only mot centre in the home town. Parked outside was a white van abput 10 meters awzy.
So what do reckon the white van was?
a. An icecream van getting ready for extra ice cold ice cream sales before christmas?
b. An burger van doing turky and stuffing birgers, discounted for the festive holiday season?
c. A white VOSA transit van with 4 cameras on its roof, with front and back floor cameras, checking the satus of every vehcile for tax, mot and insurance of every car going into thr mot station?
Guessing you might know where this is going, is it me or are the taking the p.

interesting how they can tell if a car has mot, tax and insurance on it, but how can they tell the person driving the car is a) the owner and b) the one that holds the insurance policy.
must be hit and miss with a few cars

Often see a VOSA transit with 4 cameras on top around here, driving around all the little roads >:(

They just do the owner anyway regardless of who's driving. :(

More likely to be checking up on the MOT centre than the punters, IMHO - you know, when someone with a Westfield turns up and it takes 15 minutes to MOT it, they make sure the tester then sits on his @rse for another 30 minutes before logging it off and starting the next car. >:(

Totally agree with you, however, a lot of people with more than one vehicle(s), tend to have some cars laid up, obviously you need an MOT before you can obtain road Tax, so people who are making the effort to get their cars legal are automatically going to receive a 'Not displaying Tax fine', when their next stop after the MOT could be the Post Office.
I think its just an easy way of grabbing more money of Car owners.

.. but you can legally drive an untaxed vehicle to a test centre for a pre-booked test, so, short of identifying those who hadn't bothered to pre-book I can't see who they'd be pulling. Uninsured, perhaps? I wouldn't have thought an MOT station would have provided rich enough pickings compared to parking up on any main road, TBH, unless they are checking out the test centre itself.

One of these then....
They are ANPR vans and check for MOT, RFL and Insurance.

my car's 100% legal as i'm sure your cars are too
i wouldn't be at bothered if they had these vans around every corner i turn, as long as they're not blocking my drive, or slowing down my journeys wherever i'm going, same with ANPRs and plod!
