I remember the snow in 62-63 as an 8 year old - seem to remember it was around for months! Mind you, the schools were still open and life went on unlike the chaos we get today. Now you get a couple of inches and the whole country grinds to a halt. That's progress for you! ::)

I very much doubt it, I've lost count of the number of times a snowfall has been due to hit us, then turned out to be a quick flurry, tabloids in particular love to exaggerate these things of course, can't think why  :P

In the early Fifties, I remember having loads of snow that stayed for days. Buses did not run, the main road was drifted over......but life carried on. We just walked to school or work, I never missed any time off. The Head lived at the school and most teachers nearby so as we always had to attend. The few cars that dared out usually seemed to get through. ;) It was the buses that suffered as being here in the Chilterns, you can't go anywhere without going up or down a flippin' hill ;D
Have to admit, modern life is so different, with the car being the most relied on :(

It looks like were in a similar situation to last time except it seems the north and west side are going to be hit the hardest.

The BBC site shows my little corner can expect the white stuff from around 9pm this evening.  :-/
We had a light dusting that lasted all of 10 minutes last time they gave the 'Ooh yer in for it !' forecast.

Aye, obviously the same applies here too ::)
I don't finish work later 'til 0035, so hope it holds off >:(
Have also just been 'persuaded' to work my rest days on both Black Friday and Saturday (at enhanced pay rates)! :y
So hoping that the white stuff stays away! ;D

has snow all day here, and its freezing as the cars drive over it, making the cruched snow turn into black ice, Ive had 2 near misses in my van so far, and 2 cheeky old bats try to overtake me while waiting at a roundabout.

 >:( >:( >:( >:(

some people should STAY AT HOME!!

I have NO plans to attempt to drive for the next few days; heavy-rain this morning has frozen like glass....and now it`s snowing heavily....temps have absolutely plummeted today and are now well below zero....so, (sadly) the forecast appears to be spot-on. :'(

Keep safe and warm, wherever you are. ;)

I remember that one too !! ( can't remember last week though  ::) ).

Was living in Aberdare and the snow drifted over to our side of the street so much that it was up to the bedroom windowsill. Opening the front door just revealed a white wall of solid snow !

It`s no good; no matter how hard you`ve tried to disguise it....we can still see your car! ;D

You also clearly get a better class of graffiti artist in South Wales. ;)
