Dorset Hampshire Berkshire snow spreading from the south and gradually petering out towards Berks. Possible 8 to 4 inches as it goes.
Going to be fun getting home tonight by the looks.
Btw this is according to the national news. Local news gives conflicting info so far.
-
....and other forecasts suggest the worst of the weather will be on the south west, some 20 inches, then on into south wales then the midlands.
Each forecast, BBC, sky news, local news all seem to give slightly different info :-?
Er, it's gona snow. ::)
North east coast is on for it as well they say....?
-
Been out at about 4am training and no snow but about -9 . had a light dusting. SP jr wants to go out and play football later :o :o.

They all use different sources for their weather ;) IIRC only the BBC uses the MetOffice? Still, according to the BBC News website, no snow for Bracknell for the rest of the week.
Still not entirely sure my dad's going to be able to make it back from northern Germany to Poole on Wednesday (by car!) and then up to me on Friday..
While we're at it, why is it that everyone is driving fairly sensibly aside from the "I'm invincible" AWD owners and the FWD sh*tbox owners? One of whom was all of a foot from my bumper all the way through Bracknell this morning.

:o Man's a lunatic! ;)
I woke up briefly at 5 AM, saw that the outside temperature was -7.4 and rolled over. :y

We're supposed to be visiting people in Basingstoke and Portsmouth towards the end of the week on our way to Brighton for Christmas... Hmm... Have to see what happens!

Be interesting to see what the roads are like then - my Dad will be making the trip from Bremerhaven via Calais & Dover down to Poole on Wed/Thu this week (so all the way up the M20, round the M25, and down the M3/M27/A31), and then assuming he makes it(!) back up the M3 to mine on Friday.

That's what it's like out in Germany right now (his is the second car along, the silvery/champagney Nissan)

I was just about to say "not here" but.. it's just started in Chertsey..

After getting up at 5am we drove in to Heathrow, a bit icy despite the clear roads, M4 outbound was closed j1-4due to a serious accident.
Made it to heathrow, to the pandemonium caused by BAA. I say caused by them because last night they threw everybody out! Elderly, very young, infirm they didnt care they chucked everyone out on the street in -10 temps and cold winds. Dispicable >:(
This morning everyone was trying to get back in, fights broke out and some were still prevented form getting back inside >:(
we were not sucessful getting a flight so we're coming back home ;)
-
Sorry to hear you're stuck here, Guffer! Any chance of getting a replacement flight out of Gatwick? I hear that's operating at ~50% capacity at the moment..

And now it's stopped again, barely a flurry here. Thankfully. This weather can poke off please, and soon!
-
A bit worrying as I am supposed to be spending the festivities with the other half down in Hampshire and right now the prospect of that happening is looking very slim. She is not best pleased with me at the moment. :'(

Are you still waiting for snow..... ::) ::) If I were you I would hope that it missed you... ;)
Been into Stockton, 12 mile south of here, and it looks like they must have had quite a flurry overnight and I believe Hartlepool have had some, but no more here so far, thank goodness, but extremely cold... :)
Have to take swmbo out to her works do and pick her up later tonight so hope we don't get any tonight.. :D :D
-
I'm off to Basingstoke tomorrow so hoping for a clear run. Just out of interest the company i'm loading from is in Armstrong road which is just off "Swing Swang lane"!
The local council must've had a reason for naming it so, can any locals enlighten? No google cheats, i could do that!
-
-8 here today, god knows what its going to drop to tonight :(
-
I've spent most of the day pushing cars belonging to those people who did attempt to go to work ;D
Wasn't too bad this morning - made it in to town. Came back, then sent her to Banbury to do some shopping. She abandonned the attempt about 1 mile out of town. So I sent her out again at midday, again she was back in 40mins, after having got caught up in the blizzard we hard. Car's now on drive, surrounded by ice and snow. None of the cars are making it up the gentle incline up our road where everybody has wheelspun, and turned the snow to ice.
Just need to unfreeze the bloody pipes again, then its bathtime for me - I'm knackered, and covered in shite!
-
:o Sister-in-law is supposed to be driving her dad from Newcastle to Falmouth on tuesday, best part of 500 miles,i don't fancy the chances myself!!
-
Was -9.5 here at 10am, apparently went down to about -17 overnight :o
-
-9c and still going here...... :o

No idea of its' origins but familiar with it.
Weather not too bad down here at the moment although it is still snowing gently. It has climbed a fraction over zero now after -12 last night so could get icy.
If you run out of hours around here give me a shout and I'll bring a portion of whatever Mrs. KW is cooking out to you if you like?

It probably is the site of a gallows, or gibbet, in Georgian, early Victorian times Guy ;)

Cheers Kevin. No problem with daily 15 hours but depending on the M25 it can be touch & go turning the whole thing round on a 10 hour drive. Luckily one of the fitters is running a truck to East Ham & the owner is driving him out to meet me @ Basingstoke so if i run out of driving hours an hour or two away from home he can put a card in & finish the run.
What would dinner have been???? Guy. :y

The name of the lane stems from Swang, meaning marsh or boggy land, and thus means Swing’s Marsh

Could be this as well. The plot thickens!!! :)

Indeed, as it could well be a gallows, or gibbet, on the marsh, which was a common place to site them outside areas of population, on main routes into towns ;) ;)

Basingrad hung its sheep stealers in the town square!

I'll have to ask you what the roads are like on Thursday morning when my Dad's going to be passing through (assuming the car train between Calais & Folkestone is actually running!).. what's it like now, anyway?
Everything is fine around here and still above freezing, though I expect it to get a bit dicey overnight when it freezes.
And speaking of streets with silly names, how about this one in York (grew up there, I can still see the little church at the end of the street in my mind..) - Whip-Ma-Whop-Ma-Gate. A really long name for a really tiny street..
-

I'm guessing not the Pork and Pineapple curry because we've just eaten that. :P There's talk of beef stew, IIRC. :-*
