The driver is lucky to be not seriously hurt, the cab is a right mess.

The sheer scale of the Waitrose logistics operation never occured to me until I worked in Bracknell for a while.  They must occupy half the town!  :o

looking at the damage he must have been going way to fast for the conditions, looking the road in that clip he should have been doing about 20mph in lorry that size. Damage suggests higher speed impact  :-/

its a lot of momentum even at low speeds, so it may look worse - if you hit ice and jackknife you're a passenger at any speed until the truck hits something and stops :o

Biggest problem with that truck is its a bloody auto!! now its an auto with just 3 postions on the gear switch,
1 drive,
2 crawler gear(for manoevering in the yard etc)
3 reverse,
so in any situation like that you cannot select a low gear and just gently go down the hill on the ice you have no choice but to use the exhaust brake or the footbrake,
exhaust brake on an auto truck immediately kick the box down a gear result? rear wheels lock up on ice, footbrake? the same but truck abs is different in that its air operated so it actualy reduces the brake pressure in the chambers, which basically means the driver presses the brake harder which locks the wheels again immediately the abs lets go, vicious circle,
